I love both watches and as I mentioned before, it is matter of which one to go first. My choice was…. Batman! After some considerations and thoughts, I choose batman simply because:

1. It is probably easier to get YM40 from AD in the future than batman.
2. Batman could retain the price better than YM40 but this is not a major concern as I am buying for life, not to flip it.

Anyway, both win my heart. I definitely will go after YM40 for my next purchase.
Many congrats on your purchase - post pics!

Good to also have a plan already for your next purchase.

I know this is heresy, but I would say go with the Batman. I love the Yachtmaster, enought that I purchased a homage - Islander watch. These are great options - sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel with a Seiko movement. It is a great knock around watch!

Batgirl all the way for me! I'm opening a different can of worms here, but I've never loved the oyster bracelet with the polished center. Love it all brushed on the sub and OP and for polished models I prefer the jubilee, hence my batgirl vote.

I have a BLNR but would take a serious look at that YM. The platinum with that blue dial and pop of red is unique in a sea of black dialed Rolexes

Discomfort or comfort; i guess it’s just one of those things that when you feel it, you know?
I agree with you. I have an older Yacht Master Platinum bezel (probably from around 2005, not sure), but it's the worst wearing watch that I own (Rolexes, Panerai, Tudor, or Omega). The crown just digs into my hand while none of my other watches do.

That being said, I do still love it, as it is the first Rolex I've owned. I don't wear it as much as my other watches because of this.

BLNR! If you did want YM40 I can't imagine a long wait at AD.

+1 on this. YM blue dial is a stunner. I had both the BLNR and the YM blue dial, sold both (regrettably) as I added new pieces to the collection, but definitely miss the YM more. Despite the fact that the BLNR is more popular, I'd say the YM is the way to go if you're looking for something more unique (i.e. non black dial).

Opinions differ, but I am an owner of the blue dial yachtmaster for several years. Almost every time I see a thread on this watch at least one person will mention how the platinum bezel looks horrible over time. That has not been my experience. Maybe a few years is not that long or perhaps I am just lucky and never ding the watch against anything, but the platinum bezel looks today the same way it looked when I purchased it. I do not wear it every single day, but I certainly wear it 80% of the time over my 114060 and two toned gmt with everrose.

I am not saying anyone is lying or exaggerating, but either I am just very lucky or this talk about how the bezel just gets beat up over time is not a 100% certainty. All of that said, both watches are gorgeous.

You can’t go wrong with either. It is a personal preference. Enjoy your Batman and wear it in good health.

I love the Batman on the Jubilee bracelet, but I think the Rolex Yacht Master 40 mm Rhodium is the prettiest steel model of all. Absolutely unique, breathtaking.
