Sinn AD now in Toronto

Things are occuring to me after the fact...

Toronto's now got a Sinn AD. It's at Louis Black, located on Bellair in Yorkville. Nice little shop with some surprisingly high-end pieces that you don't see every day. Not a bad selection of Sinns too. They're also the AD for Bell & Ross and erm... Jacob

I'm still shocked you didn't buy it! The gleam in your eye when you tried it on, definately suited you perfectly!

Yeah well, I saw the drool coming out of your mouth while I had it on. Maybe we could get a group rate.

As long as I get the one with the white strap, pink sub dials and the 5ct bezel!

And its even quartz so you don't have to worry about winding it.

I still can't believe you were talked into putting that thing on. You certainly "took one for the team" in doing that, but if you buy one I would think you would be "playing for the other team."

Louis Black was a nice store, but very small. They had a bunch of "blingy" watch brands there, but also some really nice stuff. I can't get my mind off this one.......

Don't forget the watch case/winder/display cabinet.
No picture, but the winder portion rose out from the case , like a Plasma TV would.
It had 40 independant winders.
If I'm allowed to post the price, it was a mere $55,000 ( watches NOT included)

Thanks for acknowledging the fact I 'took one for the team'... none of you other tossers had the stones to have your photo taken with it on. It was FUGLY with a capital FUG! Whoever pays $15K for that POS has more $$ than brains.

That Jacquet Droz is VERY nice indeed! The last time you couldn't get your mind off a watch, you bought it. What was the MSRP on the JD?

I think it was just over $23K, but I'm sure they would deal. The photos do not do the Côtes de Genève justice - it was fabulous and I'm a sucker for that on a dial......

JJ, I realize you and I have very different taste in watches. I'm not kidding, and it was a very nice watch in my view. Although I detest many Rolex designs, I don't go around calling them atrocities, so maybe you should think before you type.

I remember you getting all bent out of shape because someone slammed your blue sub a while back, so maybe just some thought before posting would be good. Just asking that you give others the respect you demand.

JJ, really... that's one stunner of a watch. It may not be a SS sports Rolex, but it screams understated elegance, much the opposite of say, a YG blinged DD.

Well, for starters, that figure 8 concept on the dial is most unappealing to me. The configuration of the hands is confusing and the "emptiness" around the 2 dials is annoying.

Just my opinion....but hey, who am I? If it's anyone's cuppa, go for it!!

Then I guess you don't like Al's GO as it has a lot of space on the dial too. BUT, that's why this hobby is so cool cuz there's something for everyone.

I'm not a dress watch kind of guy, but that JD is absolutely stunning, particularly in person.

Al's GO, IMO, is FAIR...but the new Blancpain....now that's a CRACKER!!

It was a very nice looking piece.
I still think our best "deal" would have been picking up the 3 UN Maxi Diver watches.
He was ready to give us a group discount for the Black, Blue & Cream dials.

That would have been pretty funny. I wonder how much they'd move on that when three are involved?

Actually, might have had the Eberhart thrown in. That was another great watch for a great price

Agreed... but which one? They were all nice and awesome value. I think Solaris is now my all time favourite watch shop - and for the record, they don't even carry Panerai.

I would really like to be a fly on the wall, when the Owner of Solaris is meeting the Reps for some of the watches & Jewels they carry.
I don't recall his name, but he was very cool
Not your typical Jeweller. No suit, no tie. Not even close to business casual

That’s why I’m glad I live in a free country so that I can make my own choices. It is not a design that I would choose (as with all non standard dial configurations) but I did notice the hand finish on that figure 8. And I even will go as far as to defend the person who happens to like a Jacob & Co. I’ll defend the choice, not the watch. “However I dislike your opinion, I will do anything in my power to defend the right to have that opinion”. Or something like that, some great Statesman said this once. I admit this sounds very bombastic and I whish I could always live by that rule.

That's quite true, particularly on the Jacob piece, but then there are some watches that defy logic and good taste.

I'd hazard a guess that an iced-out Jacob is as much a 'status symbol' to kids into footie and rap, as the iced DD has been to a similar crowd in the past.

But I saw that gleam in your eye in that Jacob picture John's secret life Or were it tears?

Tears, believe me... The other guys refused to even hold it, let alone put it on and have a pic taken. I fear I'll never live this one down now.

It's all in the moment. Remember the early 90's? All of a sudden celebs started to wear Swatches instead of their Rolexes. To make a 'statement'. Yeah, sure, whatever is 'en vogue' at the time..... If Madonna starts to wear a Chairman Mao watch (yes, they do exist) I reckon many will follow. It means nothing
