I am thinking about dipping my toe into the neo-vintage waters and am keen on a 14060M.

I have found a well priced example at a dealer close to my home. I personally have never dealt with this dealer, but they appear reputable and have many good Google reviews.

When I called them about the watch I was informed the watch had been “lightly polished and serviced” by them. Does the competitive price reflect the fact it has been polished or is this normal?
The watch has a box, but no papers, again is this an issue?
Is there anything else I should be looking for or asking about?
Sorry if these are fairly basic questions that have undoubtedly been asked before, but I really have no experience with older watches and want to make sure I make the right choice for my first

Bit of light polishing the norm I'd say.

The older a watch the more unlikely papers are in-situ.

A total guess but I'd say circa 50-60% of watches of this era (eg 14060m/16610lv/16710/114270/16600/16570 have papers, compared to say 1960's piece where it's more like 5%).

All about legitimacy/originality first, then condition... and I'd suggest showing a few photos of watch on here to garner a few opinions.

This is all normal.

Almost all Dealers are going to prep any used watch they have that comes in for sale. This means making it run and look as good as possible. Often too, folks who trade-in or look to sell their used watches to a Dealer do not tink about bringing any packaging or paperwork - it just isn't common except on Internet trade sites.

You want something untouched you will need to go to the watch-fairs/shows where collectors hang-out

If you don't know what to look for when buying a 14060M, you're not ready to buy. What does "well priced" mean?? These pop up on the market all the time. Why rush?

Maybe that model will be collectible or vintage someday, but at the moment it's still a pre-owned commodity. Unless you tell us the asking price and post comprehensive photos, we couldn't help you even if so inclined. In any case, I think it should be easy for you to compare price and condition with the massive number that are always on the market.
