Mayors AD Florida
Hey guys, I’m sorta new this but I’m always on here reading through the threads so I thought I’d make my first post! I’ve always wanted at Rolex but up until now I didn’t realize how challenging obtaining one can be. I put my name down in February for a white datejust and i go in probably every 2-4 weeks just to stop in an say hi and I get the same runaround that they do not know when they may receive it etc, the last visit I had my SA told me it could be 1-2 years! From my understanding the Rolex market has kinda of loosened up so is 1-2 years the new reality or is this a way of my SA not wanting to do business with me? I know I could go grey but since this would be my first Rolex I kind of want the buying experience. I’ve read on here before that mayors sometimes doesn’t like selling to people who are first time buyers with no buying history but I didn’t know how true that was.

Yeah visiting every couple of weeks is not a great way to build relationship. Stop by ever 2-3 months. But if your AD quoted you 1-2 years on a DJ, most likely they just don't want to do business with you.
Go to a major city like NY and speak to a big AD like Bucherer or Wempe. I got my DJ41 Mint Green dial like 6 months after first walk-in, when we purchased a Palm motif dial DJ for my wife. |

Who is your SA at the store. This is my AD as well. Few of us on the Forum use this AD.

wempe is great but it's also one of the hardest ADs for locals because of the amount of money walking through there. bucherer bryant park seems to be the only one where walk ins seem to have luck but again you'd probably have to be a local a white dial datejust shouldn't be too hard to get but this AD seems like they're not interested in working with the OP. probably worth trying with another AD there |

Why might they not be interested in working with me? Is stopping by every 2-4 weeks too often? Could it be my age? Each time I visit, I just say hello and ask how things are going, so my Sales Associate can get to know me. I'm not questioning where my watch is. I thought frequent visits would be best for building a relationship, rather than stopping by every few months.

Hi Zeuss, a few TRF members have the same AD, Mayors in Tampa :) Nick is my go-to there.
Availability in general is still 'tight'. Agree check every few months or so. But yes, with many, many requests and not enough inventory.... I've worked luxury retail, believe me they want to sell you one, they're not getting enough to cover their clients 'immediately' with product on hand. Patience will be rewarded :)

I used NYC as an example. OP just needs a large AD that gets a lot of DJ in stock regularly. For relationship building out of state AD is not a great option, but for a one time purchase of a rather common DJ it can work. When I was picking up my DJ Mint Green in February, Bucherer in NYC had a blue dial/smooth bezel/Jubilee DJ41 on display, available for a walk in purchase. Since then I bet situation improved even further. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Not going to happen at Mayors with no purchase history at all.
Their corporate office controls customer allocation. Without a purchase history, they see selling you a Rolex as a waste of precious resources that could go to an established client to keep them engaged buying more and more and more. You may buy this Rolex and poof, that’s it. Mayors isn’t interested in that at all. They don’t need to be. They told you a year to get you to stop coming in. When you come in to “visit” the SA, you take that SA “up” in the customer rotation. He or she is assigned to you until you buy something and leave or just leave. That means they can’t wait on another walk-in customer until you’re out of there. That other customer may buy jewelry or another watch brand, so they miss that opportunity by “talking” to you. They already know your agenda. You want Rolex…won’t buy anything else, they don’t have one for you…adios. Now, if you bought something else…..then your visits would have more gravitas and that DJ may just show up for you… |

OP, if you check the TS on the forum you might be able to get one.
The DJ is far more common and more available at resellers. You may have to pay a premium, but you can have it tomorrow and have a big smile on your face. |

I went to Mayors in the Miami location in January for an Oyster Perpetual. I received an email later that night about being on the registry of interest for one. Being that the location is a pretty busy the last couple times I been there I’m not holding breath on getting one anytime soon from that location. However, I did visit a smaller AD and asked for an Explorer and they are texting me on occasions providing status updates so I have a better chance with them than Mayors.

Corporate determines who is allocated based on purchase history. That said, love my local Mayors and fortunate to always get whatever I ask for. I have made many purchases in addition to our Rolex but never anything wife and I did not want so it has worked out well for me with them. Most I have ever waited was a year for my white Daytona. But mine is in Southeast FL.

Write a review stating this and go to another AD. A white SS DJ41 is not a hard reference to get. In today's market, maybe a 2 month wait max if not already in case (which I've seen).

It’s a long story and too late for me to get into it, so here’s the short version. It took 18 months, I checked in once in a while, but I got what I wanted without a spend history. Now I’ll go back and buy sparkly things for my wife, creating a spend history so that I may obtain precious watches I desire within a more reasonable timeframe:) |

Going in every 2-4 weeks to get a Datejust is a new one to me.
Either buy a non-Rolex item there to start a purchase history, find another AD, or go grey. I would only visit every few months. 1-2 times a month is too much. |

That’s my Ad also and the funny thing is I have been offered more from Orlando Mayors lately than Tampa.
Unfortunately it’s always precious metals big hitter pieces that are always over Grey market prices. I got offered a Rose gold yacht master and a DJ the Rose gold is a 40mm to small for my liking. But honestly Tampa has watches in stock on the floor for sale every time I have been in recently. When you walk into the Rolex section on the wall to the right is what’s in stock and for sale. I recommend going early in the day and more often Also I would register in Orlando also. The other thing is that summer is the best time to be able to get a watch. Everyone is spending money on vacations. And the watch market has clearly slowed down. |
