Recommendations on a grey dealer to sell my Rolex
Hi guys, trying to upgrade to an AP and am trying to sell the Rolex that I barely wear. Would really appreciate any insights on a grey dealer where I can safely sell this timepiece and get a fair and decent prices. Not sure about the likes of DavidSW and Bob's Watches since I feel I will be getting low values from those big dealers.
Any advice would help thank you. |

Grey Dealers are not used watch dealers, although some re-sellers have both new and used.
Fair and decent prices are different for you than they would be for the Dealer who would make you an offer. You will not get "market price" when you sell to somebody who needs to re-sell, they are in the business to make a profit for themselves. I might say that you would likely get a better experience from David SW than Bob's, but there are others that will vary too.

No reason to expect a retail price from a trusted dealer. They expect to make a reasonable margin when they sell it onward. They undertake the risks and the risk-adjusted ROR is likely to be 25% (or a bit more).
For full retail you'll need to sell it yourself and accept the inherent risks that entails. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I typically do not sell many watches as much as trading them. I would go to the big Trusted Sellers here and see what they offer for a watch similar to yours for. Then subtract 20-30% for the margin they need and you have the price for a cash sell. For trade it is different as you do not know what they have in the watch you want so it has always been better for me to trade. I would not deal with Bob's or JOMA Shop as I do not think the situation with trading with them is as fair as the Trusted Sellers. Get on the phone with the Trusted Sellers, have a discussion and see what they offer. Don't get offended and remember it is a negotiation. Good luck.

Find one who will do a trade. Either way you're getting hosed.
