Beverly Hills Cop watches

The new movie shows off Kevin Bacon wearing a YG Daytona. It’s interesting to be such a point in the movie but.

I swear it looks like Taggart is wearing a YG Daydate. Anyone else catch the bracelet?

Decided to watch #2 again and Taggart appears to be wearing a YG Daydate in it also?

both looked fake in this movie which is to be expected nowadays given the prices and with all tv shows and movies using fakes/props, but Taggart had a real day date in the first movie and in the 2nd he was wearing a two tone dj (or what looks to be one)

lol I saw the same thing and almost posted! It went something like eddy murphy saying, “nice Rolex” and bacon saying “yellow gold Daytona” and went on to say how proud he was of it. I also thought it was interesting not just to point out Rolex, but Daytona and YG.

Taggart and the younger cop, chatting in Taggarts office, both their watches set at a different time.
I guess they don’t expect us to pick those details.. didn’t count on WIS’s.

Also, Eddie wearing a Shinola Duck (I believe) which is a nice touch with the Detroit background. They only show it for a minute, but if you know, you see it hahaha. I like that they were slick about it, its a cool watch from their lineup.

I thought the Daytona drop was interesting- a little tacky, but fitting for the Bacon character he was playing. Axle also mentions his "Gucci Shoes" several times.

In Beverly Hills Cop 2 (just rewatched) Paul Reiser comments that Axle is wearing a Patek (bought with department funds maybe?) while working undercover.

I always loved the BHC franchise, growing up near and working in Detroit really made it seem cool when I was younger. Plus they used real Detroit cops in filming (+Gil Hill) so the city was always very grateful, even thought they showed us warts and all.

I might be misremembering this but didn't the real Detroit police chief play himself?

I really liked the movie and the scene with the YG Daytona was very cool.

He did, but they did a pretty good job hiding his twitches. Glad they still offered him the role and cool to say the group back together.

I thought the movie was a good addition to the franchise and they left the formula alone which was great to see.

I bet the watches if real are better than the film….then again the fakes could be better

The dial on KB’s Daytona looked blue to me in the film and does in the picture here, in this article they give their best guess of the configuration

The problem with the corruption angle is that a Beverly Hills police captain could pretty easily afford that watch...

They could be fakes but I kinda doubt it with the $170mil budget. The most expensive Netflix movie to date.

Why cheap out on a $40k watch they make a big deal about in the movie?

I thought it was a great movie. The gold daytona bit was good too.

Yes, Gil Hill played himself (although named Inspector Todd) in 1, 2 and 3.

Anxious to see this movie. Loved 1&2 but was never a fan of 3.

You’re right, I mistook #1 for #2. Taggart’s DayDate in 1 is clearly seen at the end when Axel is checking out of the hotel.
