That magnification definitely seems off to me.

I’d have it opened up. No fake will pass that test.

It’s all good in my opinion. Some of these had weak date mag around this time, it’s well documented.
Nice watch. Enjoy.

That is not a good pix of the laser applied crown.

Do you have a pix of the movement?

The magnification of many cyclops lens dropped from 2.5x to 1.5x around 2014-2015. This was such a large issue that Rolex removed all mentions of "2.5x" magnification from their website during that time.

I'm surprised by the number of knee-jerk reactions in this thread saying its fake. This issue has been talked about in length in this forum awhile ago:

I'm not.

This, is not right:

You shouldn't be able to capture the laser-etched crown face on like this, and the only time you do is on watches with a suspicious background.

Interesting to see the rehaut engraving misaligned with the minute markers at the bottom of the dial, but not at the top.

Something really fishy about this watch I cant lie.

I tried to get another photo similar and it was not possible. I can’t even see it unless the light is just right. It’s not an obvious crown on top of the glass.

No pic of the moment I do not have any tools to open the watch. Did you see the lec photo at the bottom of the first page? It’s as clear as I could get it looking with your eye in the loop it’s extremely fine and precision looking.

Yeh - it doesn't seem to be as misaligned as that at the top section of the watch

I'm sure it's fine - I'm just nit-picking. The crystal still doesn't seem right to me though, I wouldn't be happy with it, personally.

Sounds like you have reservations. If you can, I would say return it for a full refund.

Plenty of 116710's floating around, surely you can find another one with proper magnification as well as box and papers.

No not at all it's a super clean watch. Sucks rolex was spitting out incorrect mags though. Doesn't seem to be a very sought after mistake like the text errors.

Dealer was great they pressure tested it and did a time loss test on it beforehand. +- 1/s day.

I got a tool to open the caseback.

No need to open the watch back...all this focus on the laser etch crown is unnecessary since the cyclops is simply glued on to the crystal.

OP - Your watch is fine. You can ask Rolex to rectify your magnification at next service.

Yes your watch is fine there was a lot of fuss about the magnification and at this time Rolex remove the 2.5 magnification statement from the Rolex site. But even with the lower magnification the date was still easy to read it was a lot of fuss over nothing IMHO.

I actually enjoy the back and forth. I've learned a ton in the last few days. I can probably spot a fake fairly quickly now. And it's very cool to know everything is original and super clean inside.

That was my plan. considering the watch is around 10 yrs old it's probably due for service in about 3-5 years.

Is this normal for the bezel if not how can I correct it?
