AP rookie here, would love some advice
Rolex vet stepping into the AP world. Looking at my first AP. Found this one from a grey Ive never used. A buddy of mine said he wasn’t wild about the polish job. I know it’s a straight on shot but any concerns about this watch. Wish id taken a few bracelet pics. Thx in advance!

For a relatively young watch this IMO has been too polished. The straight lines down the bezel are a bit rounder than I'd like to see and the polished side on the edge of the case is too thick...
I'd look further than this touched up piece (doesn't seem like it's polished by AP either) |

Hard to tell from the picture
I can see a hairline scratch on the bezel at 10 o’clock but you can always sent the watch in to AP for a perfect polish job. If you get it for the right price your good and really wear it like the last owner did and enjoy it without having to worry about it. |

Welcome to the AP club!
Bezel doesn't look to be super sharp, but hard to tell. if case and bracelet are fine, I wouldn't bee to concerned with the bezel. I think a replacement steel bezel from AP is generally around $1300 or so, not too bad. you can try to negotiate $1k off of the price and get a new one if you are ok with that |

Maybe it is just the picture but the watch does not look as sharp as most I have seen. Would think it is the polish job but if you could post more pictures a member with more experience with AP will let you know.

It’s been touched up by someone other than AP. There’s plenty of these around so I would pass on this one.

Definitely a pass. The best way to compare to untouched examples and you’ll train your eye quite quickly.
Another good litmus test is to look at the screws on the bezel. When produced, the screws are a bit recessed into the bezel. This means that watches that have been polished often have screws that are flush with the bezel given the wearing down of the bezel

You can actually completely replace the bracelet and case/bezel if you want via AP so if you find one at a good price I’d keep this in mind. It also isn’t very expensive for the SS models.
I agree with others this has been heavily polished. |
