Rolex stolen
Hello
I’m sorry to say my watch was stolen recently from my home and it has caused me a lot of great distress. The watch in question was a 116200 Rolex date just Roman numeral stainless steel manufactured in 2015. I was just wondering if anyone could help with a rough estimation for me. The watch is fully insured as a separate item on our insurance policy but I just wanted some insight here. My feeling was between £5k to upper £5k but I would really appreciate some advice in case I am undervaluing or indeed overvaluing. Thank you |

I'm sorry that this happened to you. Burglary is an ugly crime and involves a lot more than just losing items. I am going to assume you didn't have some sort of safe or security in place to keep the thief from taking the watch. I recommend using a safe (bolted to the floor or other structure) - moving forward. This should be a pretty good estimate of value - which is showing that reference as under retail. I would submit an estimate for replacement at retail value which will be higher.
https://watchcharts.com/watch_model/...16200/overview You can also post your serial number here of the stolen watch which will be picked up by Google if someone tries to resell it. I'd also contact Rolex and report it stolen with a copy of the police report.

My UK AD told me to insure my watch 16203 for what it would cost to replace it with the new version of it.

I'm sorry to see your loss.
The valuation we might opine upon is meaningless - if you have replacement coverage then the adjuster will offer less than any of us think is fair. If you wish to be whole, make them find a replacement via the Rolex CPO program. I would also file a copy of your police report with Rolex UK to put your serial number on their theft list. RUK will seize it the moment anyone submits it for service. Then you, the police and the insurer can manage the next steps to recover your original DJ if it has any special sentimental value for you. Well, I think I have good news for you.
Sounds like you have a floater and normally, it’s replacement cost as opposed to actual cash value. Read your policy as you just may get a shiny new one.

Sorry to hear. I hate thieves. Your insurance policy is going to dictate the valuation. I hope they make you whole. Best of luck.

In this case, carrier will replace with new, given CPO is generally more.

BTW, when I lost mine (DJ as well) carrier actually allowed me to replace it with a completely different reference (Sub Bluesy) which retailed for more and I paid the difference.
