Anyone careful with jackets scratching there watch?

Some jackets and shirts that have metal buttons or snaps on the inside of the cuff, makes me a bit worried to overly scratch my watch. So I tend to fold the cuffs back and roll the sleeve. Anyone else do this? Obviously I want to wear my watch and expect wear and tear but I don’t want to purposely scratch them.

Yes i am careful with metal buttons as well. I wear my watches pretty liberally but wouldnt want them rubbing against a metal button knowingly. Sometimes i put tape on the inner side to cover the button.

That seems more accidental than purposeful but no, I don’t roll sleeves.
I wear clothing that prevents scratches. Seatbelt clasps, doorways (handles) and dogs cause more scratches than clothing in my experience. Just part of normal wear and tear.

I tend to shy away from metal zips, as they always seem to attract my watches like magnets. The worst offenders have been luggage such as overnight bags and even coats/jackets.

I think about it, no sense in causing damage for the sake of a jacket.

This might be compulsive, but i have my tailor sew a patch of matching jacket material over the back of the snap/metal button that would come into contact with the watch. Problem solved. Not perfect but nobody sees inside the cuff, really.

I’m not very careful about anything scratching my watches. I try not to bang them around but I’m not overly concerned about getting scratches from clothing.

With these types of jackets with buttons you can fully expect can dents, dings, and scratches to occur on your watch.

Never even crossed my mind in 20 years of Rolex ownership.
But it may be down to personal clothing preferences.

I don't have many things with zips/buckles etc on the cuff. An odd coat maybe, but would generally have a jumper/hoodie on underneath.

I have a couple of jackets that have those buttons in the cuff. They have hacked up the watch bracelet. I put a piece of painters tape on the button inside the cuff and no more scratching

Good ideas with the tape or added cloth. Glad I’m not the only one worried about. I get worried even a denim jacket or a rough material could do some serious micro scratches. But obviously i just try to be smart with the options I’m choosing when wearing the nicer pieces.

It happens that i only wear these kind of jackets with an inner so the watch is pretty much protected from the buttons. I remember only once to have scratched the clasp of the watch because of a metal button inside the cuff.

In over 50 years of wearing Rolex watches never worried about scratching my watch no matter whatever jacket shirt or anything else. Some of you guys should have seen my 16600 SD after 5 year's working underwater as a real tool watch. Judging but many in the thread some would of had a heart attack, but all scratches easily remedied at routine RSC service time.

No. But I never wear any jackets in Florida except a sport jacket every now and then.

Always. With heavy weight jackets with metal cuff snaps, I put those little green felt circle stickers over them on the inside. I have been doing this for decades. It take so little effort to scratch proof vs heavy scratches on a expensive watch.

These green felt pads work for so many things.

I do exactly the same thing! I bought a new leather jacket and I told them I can’t have metal buttons destroying my watch collection and their tailor covered the buttons for me. Perfect!

I’ve scratched metal bezels on zippers on a jacket pocket before! Oystersteel does seem so scratch more easily in my experience…

I've never been very careful with my 19 year old 14060M sub (which my AD 'counseled' me about), including rough physical work and play, and I've never even considered clothing as a potential damage factor. Yet it still looks brand new. YMMV.

I’ve dented and scratched watches because of the metal buttons at the cuffs. I no longer wear watches and jackets like those together.
