So I went from Laurent Ferrier to Fleming to Moser to Simon Brette. Simon was so kind to spend an hour chatting to me about his brand, upcoming releases and the difficulty of allocating his very limited pieces to the right collectors. He even let me try on his personal souscription piece - needless to say it is an amazing watch, and I believe I have an opportunity to explore getting on the list for an allocation of the upcoming steel release. Now, this would be a watch to cap off my collection and would require consolidation of a couple of other pieces. In fairness, I would have to stretch my budget considerably to make it happen. The independent collector community here in the Netherlands is fairly small and I would appreciate hearing from others with experience working with Simon. Absolutely fine to exchange PMs if that’s preferable.
Which dial color are you planning to get?

What are the dial options?

I'm scheduled for the titanium model in 2027 and will stick with that but I'm curious re: new dial options/colors on the steel model.

My information is from a few months ago. Simon told me that there will be two dial color choices for the steel edition. (Blue and purple, but it’s been so long that I cannot be sure as I was not interested in the steel edition) But it is best to find out from him.

The dial on the titanium version is probably as good as it gets. You definitely should stick with it or add a steel.

I do not disagree but let’s not forget that is ex vat (in most EU countries between 20-25%) and the CHF/EU exchange rate is at around 1:1.05. So when all is said and done it is still 95k Euro and 105k USD for a time only watch.

That’s a very good point and something I didn’t even think about. Plus it’s easy to say “not bad” when the money isn’t spent. I still think it’s a pretty fair asking price considering the hype around the brand and the limited availability. But yea that’s definitely a lot of money.

Am sure it'll be a monumental event, with an abundance of good conversation, mesmerizing handcrafted horology, and prototypes to look in awe. Am sure my longtime friend Peter Chong will bring a Hasselblad or ??? and share many fantastic photos.

Less than 24 hours until SG showtime

PS: Would love to move back to SG, one of my favorite places on Earth.

Mike Tay calls this a watch nerd event and I totally agree. I'm looking forward to reconnect with some of these watchmakers I last met in Geneva and to hear their plans for next watch. I'm incredibly excited

It feels like a watch show with booths of independent watchmakers showing their watches, except that they have nothing to sell you. Yet it's fun meeting all these watchmakers under 1 roof. Saw many watch influencers too and some amazing independent watches on people wrists (RRCC, 2 AK-06, 3 1967, 1 Voutilainen, 1 Remy Cool Tourbillon Atelier, 1 Origine, 1 Krayon Anywhere, at least 10 Resonance, many other Journe and MB&F). I took a lot of pics and sharing some here.

I saw a handful of Americans who flew in from US just for this event, including Mike Shani. There are many Japanese too because Hour Glass has affiliates in Japan. Some were from Thailand and HK. It's fun meeting all these visitors and listening to them talking about their watches. My face was grinning from ear to ear today.

I didn't manage to take more wrist pics of attendees. Journes are like Rolex here... dress code is "double-wrist" and I see many many Journes today. Many MB&F too - Max was busy engaging his fans. Rexhep was heavily surrounded but thankfully I managed to speak to him. Some of the watchmakers were happy to share their next projects and 2 of them even showed me rendering of their next watches.

Also interesting to see more people wearing loud colours for their straps. I was wearing boring navy on my left wrist and dark brown on my right wrist.

By the way that partially blue dialed Origine above is my favourite watch today. Sylvain said he has stopped the sales of Origine and there are 100 pieces overall including all points of sales and limited editions.

So that’s where all the Journes went lol.

Love to hear that a lot of MB&Fs were being worn.

I’m gonna need to hear more about these renderings you saw (don’t worry I know you can’t).

Sounds like a really fun time. Also I just love when watches like these are being worn instead of locked in a safe. That’s how it should be.

Thanks for sharing!

was there on both days. it's fun to meet all the watchmakers and most of them are really passionate on their crafts. Almost all of them are more than happy to show you their pieces and explain even though English is not their first language.

lots of people wearing their heavy hitters and the amount of wealth in the room is insane.

Sorry, not the best photos because of the bad lighting.

I didn't attend today sessions due to work. Is it as crowded today? Yesterday was almost shoulder to shoulder.

yesterday, the private view and vernissage is insane, yea, shoulder to shoulder. It's quite difficult to view and speak to the watchmakers but i have brief conversation with Sylvain, Rexhep, Matthieu etc.

i was there today at 2pm, way lesser people, probably a quarter of the private viewing, so i had more time to view the watches and talk to them.

was there for the max busser talk as well.
