I live in the bay area and I called the rolex service center in San Fransico I just got a 30+ year old Tudor Submariner snowflake from a lot of forums they say it's hard to get one of these service center's to work on the older one's this one does is US 600.00 to high or the right price for a service.

I just sent a 16 year old GMT Master II in for service. With a new crown, cost will be $632.00. AD said most basic service charges were around $500.

I guess it about right the service center did say around 500-600 the higher price was if the crown and tube needed to be replaced.

May be a bit high, but they may be quoting you that price because it's a 30 yr. old watch.

Rolex service at an ad or to RCS starts at 515 to 550 plus parts. Interior parts included t/c/crystal/externals are extra Rikki

My 1969 Day/Date cost me $750. It was sent to the Texas RSC on Oct 2009.

So you sent your watch into the future how cool is that. hehe for that age watch that was a good price the fact that they still worked on it for it's age is amazing don't have a real definitive year for when Rolex stops working on them kinda would like to know. I must live in a very cheap area then. My watchmaker overhauled (replaced case tube, stem, crystal, cleaned and regulated ) a watch that had not been serviced for 25plus years for about $350. And yes they have a Rolex parts account. I got their name from one of the AD's in the area.

That's about the going rate.Some will do it for $200.00 (not chrono) plus parts it depends on what relationship you have with the watchmaker.Keep in mind parts can add up quickly.Rolex keeps raising there service fee.This doesn't mean the labor involved has changed.Jewelry stores usually mark up there service 2-3 times what they actually pay the watchmaker down the street.And yes I am talking about a watchmakers with years of experience with a parts accounts etc. It is best to see some of there work 1st though when using anybody outside a RSC. I have seen really good work and I have seen the $600.00 service that case and bracelet finish was horrible and not even close to Rolex finish.

Another watchmaker I talked to said he charged $65/hr. If I wanted to ask him anything he would start the stopwatch. and I could pay him when we were done talking.
Oh and the crystal replaced was a midsize acrylic. The sapphire wasn't available for a 53 Oysterdate.

You might consider going downtown to the Shrieve building were the service center is located. Check the tenant list and look for Setrack Magnasian I think he is one floor up fromthe service center. Alot of local shops use him for Rolex repair, he is top notch.
