Something tells me Hodinkee feels like the guy who just had to sell his Rose Gold Hublot Big Bang he bought in 2021 at retail with no discount.

Sounds like a fire sale of Hodinkee's preowned inventory. I'd be surprised if C&C were to exist as a separate brand any longer than needed to sell such inventory under EWC.

Good one! I'm in agreement EWC got a favorable deal.

What value does crown and caliber have? Just a poor reputation, and hodinkee sold off their inventory?

Well, Hodinkee bought C&C in February, 2021, so I'm thinking they paid way above "retail" at that time and now, as you say, had to let it go at, probably, a great discount.

Watch media & watch sales are very different animals. Hopefully this will prove to be a good acquisition for EWC & hopefully will allow Hodinkee to refocus on what they do best. I check-in on Hodinkee just about every day (for years) & think they are great for the watch collector community - no matter your opinion on their fashion/lifestyle pieces or sometimes sponsored content- & while I haven't bought from EWC, I've only heard good things from people who have. I hope this is a win-win at the end of the day

Better to say that Watches of Switzerland who acquired Hodinkee a week ago, sold Crown and Caliber off. Makes sense, WoS does not more over expensive inventory. Good riddance

My understanding is that the sale of C&C DID NOT include C&C's existing inventory.

https://usa.watchpro.com/european-wa...wned-business/

So it is essentially a purchase of the brand, marketing infrastructure, etc., but no inventory.

What that means for that inventory, I don't know, but a firesale by what's left of C&C make sense.
