Oyster bracelet clasp not latching properly on Sub

Hey folks, anyone ever had this issue? I went to put on my 116619 which I have had for about 10 years and the clasp will not latch. Its as if the two hinged parts with the Rolex stamp do not sit inside each other. They are not flush inside the clasp which sticks out and pushes against my wrist. I am not sure how this happened. Any ideas on what to look at? I know most of you will say bring it to a RSC, but I feel this may be aa quick little fix that I may be able to do myself.

Are you saying the “beak and hook” don’t engage?

I’m not sure what to suggest … maybe play around with moving the glidelock back and forth?

One of the two folding pieces under the clasp may have gotten bent out of shape. Easy to bend them back into shape with the 5 digits but not sure about this one! Sorry man. Hope you get this sorted out.

I would say open it up and check piece by piece to see what is sticking or not seating properly.

When open, will the skinny blade part of the clasp blade, that is attached to the clasp itself, sit flush against the clasp and bracelet? If not, you should be able to see what is stopping it.

If it does, then what happens if you keep that in place against the clasp/bracelet/glidelock and try to close it into the larger blade that is attached to the flip lock?

Seems like you should be able to figure out which part is causing it to not seat properly and go from there.

1. Check bracelet screws; none should be protruding

2. Check that the spring that is under the clasp closure mechanism engages.

3. Check that both springbars that hold the latch mechanism and the bracelet to the clasp cover (respectively) are seated. See image below.

4. Does the Oysterlock adjustment slide freely?

Other than that, have a watch maker disassemble the clasp and find the culprit.

My best guess Either a screw is loose, or a spring has popped or possibly a link is backwards?

I think the clasp would break before it bends.

To elaborate and I apologize in advance if this is too obvious, but, did you by chance double check the glide-lock/flip-lock? My Sea-dweller does the exact same thing if the flip-lock links are not fully set, snapped in and recessed.

Again, sorry if this is overstating the obvious.

No don't apologize. It does seem to be something very simple out of place. I cannot for the life of me figure this out. I will try to go to the local Rolex AD tomorrow morning. Everything seems to move ok, glidelock and the spring loaded latch seems ok as well.

Op, liquid nail always works for me? Just kidding. Looks like something is bent.
Look at the fold and see if anything is not inline. Check that all the pins secure.
I had an issue once with a bad pin, while on vacation in Europe. I did not mess with it.

It does not have to go to RSC, you should be able to see where it is not straight.
If you feel comfortable adjusting it, try, I would visit your AD most of them have an in house watchmaker that can adjust it for you.

FWIW: Looks like the curvatures (shape) of the clasp folds might not be uniform, and might also not be the same curvature as the clasp cover.

Soooooo, guess what. Up until this morning, it still was not latching properly and I could not see anything wrong. So, I end up going to our Rolex AD and I am showing the service girl how it's not teaching properly and.....the friggin thing latches normally. What the hell... So I showed her the pics and she said sometimes there is dirt and grime that gets stuck where the spring loaded latch is and it won't release properly or line up with the hook properly. She ended up steam-cleaning it and blowing out all the grime.
The girl is enamored with the watch as she has not seen the 116619 in the flesh and is blown away. The girl was blushing about this watch. It made my day,. firstly getting it all sorted out, then secondly her infatuation with the Smurf

FWIW, I just put my Deep Sea on after not wearing it for a week and I'm having the same issue. I can't figure out what could be causing this. If anyone knows of a fix I'd appreciate the feedback
