I recently went to Japan and was looking for a No6 especially the Meteorite version. Impossible to find!! I paid a little over 6k and am very satisfied to have this in my collection as it’s a real statement piece.

Ended up getting this one on EBay and learned the best time to pick one up is right after the Lottery. I tried to join the lottery a correctly I couldn’t because you need a Japanese address and CC, so my buddy in Japan registered and we didn’t win in the last lottery.

A little about the watch. The fit and finish is amazing and I love the details of the Bezel and dial, The small openwork window has the gear that's spinning is the Seconds hand. The double retrograde is amazing especially when you flip from midnight to a new day as both hands and the Date wheel jump. "Very Genta inspired". The design language is so FRESH compared to the norm that’s getting pumped out by the big boys.

The only complaint I have is the strap, it’s way underwhelming and the pin buckle is low quality compared to the Case.

Congratulations on your No.6, and welcome to the club

It is certain that it is almost impossible to get a model with a meteorite dial, since only 10 of them were made, if I remember correctly. This is perhaps one of the rarest Otsuka models, as there were only a few limited editions of the No.6.

You're right about the strap, I have replaced them with bracelets on both of my Otsukas. One got a Milanese one, the other a bit "Apple watch" type, I think they look much better that way.

That's why I hope that Jiro will really manage to ship overseas. He already wrote about this earlier, but he hasn't made it a reality yet

highly doubt this will happen anytime soon. Folks in japan cannot even get these via lottery. Supply simply outweighs demand. If it wins the GPHG this month it will be even worse

Probably. But Jiro is currently making flippers to sell their watches as quickly as possible as the next raffle is coming very soon. It seems, the japanese fellows will wait for this, and do not purchases the watches on the market.

A unique stainless steel semi-skeletonized No.6 with date, retrograde hours and minutes, warranty and presentation box, made for the TOKI: watch auction.
https://www.phillips.com/detail/otsu...c/HK080624/107

This one is incredibly sexy. A guaranteed conversation starter - "buddy do you mind if I have a closer look at your watch pls?"

I will be curious about the hammer price of this unique "Shinonome". Also, for the hammer price of the 7.5 and 6 :)

As expected, Jiro Katayama and his No.6 won his category. :)

My number 6 arrived today. I think it’s a great watch! Rather different to anything else I have and the retrograde movement is pretty cool imo

Unbelievable. A No. 6 auctioned for HKD 469,900 while a No. 7.5 sold for HKD 165,100 at the Phillips Toki auction. Congrats to all owners of Otsuka Lotec watches.

Yes, I was also paying attention because I was curious about the price of the 7.5. This really surprised me because it was surprisingly high, but the price of the 6 literally shocked me. However, based on this, I thought that the Shininonome would be extremely expensive because of its uniqueness, but it cost almost as much as the regular model. Plus, it was the one that was charity, so these usually sell for much more. Strange.

But it was for a good cause and then fetched prices are totally irrelevant for the market.
Remember a plastic SWATCH moonswatch sold for CHF 70.000 a couple of days ago and ofcourse that was also for a good cause’s

As far as I know, only the price of the Shinonome was donated to charity. This masterpiece was made for this auction and was brand new. However the others were not. That's why I think the prices were surprising.

Honestly, from this perspective, the price of the Shinonome would be realistic even on a market basis, since we are talking about a one-of-a-kind, handmade piece. While in the same time the No.6, for example, is constantly being put on the market, and today it could be called a watch produced in small series. Also it worth to mention, that anyone can purchase that model both on Chrono24 and Ebay for far less money.
