Hello and a silly question.

Hi all. I've lurked for a while trying to learn and make an educated decision. I finally took the plunge and bought my first Rolex I'm so so in love with it. I appreciate all of the great information on this forum that helped me to feel good about my purchase.

I do have a silly question... probably a girlie question.

Do any of you spend time listening to your Rolex?

I've noticed that the sound is fascinating to me.

Now you all think I'm strange right out of the gate

Welcome, I would listen to it more but I'm going deaf so it seems as it is very difficult for me to hear my watch ticking.

Hi Suz,

Welcome to TRF!!

No question is considered silly on this forum!! You should listen to some of the HOWLERS some of these other guys ask!!

Yes, I have listened to the quick-fire ticka, ticka, ticka, tick of my Rolex watches from time to time - very fascinating!!

Hope you enjoy your stay on this forum.

JJ

Welcome to the forums. I don't spend much time listening to my watches, but I do have a habit of spending too much time polishing off finger prints, watermarks, etc. My wife often gives me the evil eye when I'm at it too much!

Welcome Suz, No question too silly here. I am guilty of laying in bed with my arms above my head and in the quiet of the night hearing the ticking of the watch which after a while puts me to sleep....

I do. At least once every week or so. Gives me a source of relaxation. Much like the roar of an Italian sports car.

Thank you all so much for the answers. Makes me feel less loony. Thanks also to John for the link to the other thread. I enjoyed that. Mine is a plain old stainless ladies perpetual and is mostly just a rapid tick, but when I get my ear just right it's got this great little "singing" like you said. Hairspring I suppose. Anyway, it's great.

Welcome to the forum. I actually do listen to my Rolex movements quite often and it's a very unique sound. Now, nothing like the tic-tock of the Oysterquartz models. The loudest quartz mechanism out there. Love it!!
