rolex keeps stopping..why?
i just bought a brand new ladies datejust last week from an AD...since then i have been wearing it every day and love it..however, after taking it off at night..when i go to put it on in the morning it has either stopped completely or the second hand is still going but the time is off by anywhere from 2-4.5 hrs....i was just wondering if anyone knows what could be causing this??...
i have a call in to the store again...when i first called they told me it was never wound enough in the first place...but as an example, this last time, i wore the watch all day thurs...took it off at night...fri i put it on at about 2pm, it still had the right time...wore it the rest of fri...took it off at night...this morning it was stopped and off by 4hrs and 20 min... |

Give it a full 40 winds and try it again - that should do the trick.

I have never heard such foolishness! What planet do some of these people come from, anyway! As others have appropriately pointed out, you just pull the winding stem out to the first position and turn the stem clockwise about 40 times and you're good to go.

Some AD reps are like bulls in a china shop at times lol. I believe the full winding should take care of your issue.

A Rolex cannot be overwound. Actually though, 40 turns is more than sufficient.

If you throw it down on the floor and chant over the watch, that should do it.

I'm not so sure this is sound advice . . . My parents threw me on the floor and chanted after I was born, and yet somehow, I'm still unwound.

My wife hates to ever have to wind her TT DJ (something to do with "nails"), so she puts it in the winder whether it needs it or not.

I gave my wife my TT DJ, she is amazed that it cannot tell the difference between a 30 and 31 day month.

I'm just amazed that people that sell these expensive watches don't even know something as basic as how to properly wind a mechanical watch. Unbelievable.
And to the OP, yes, by all means |

Your activity level (wrist movement thru activity) is not enough to wind the watch automatically.

There's a video on another thread from a kid reviewing a "Submariner GMT". He says his stops too and that it probably needs a new battery. So if the 40 turns trick doesn't work, it's for sure the battery!
