JJ,
I'm glad you finally see what we've been talking about. The 36 DJ is perfect. We all do hope that you can soon get one. Then you can really understand.. Here's mine on oyster bracelet.. |

I like the older 36mm size but I honestly haven't tried the DJ II yet. My guess is that I would want to continue with the 36mm size, because I think some watches on the market at the moment are too large. 36mm is especially nice if you are wearing it in formal or semi-formal settings because you don't want to stand out too much.

Was on a flight to Milwaukee Friday sitting next to a very large guy, about 6'3" and over 250 lbs. We were in a tiny plane and both miserable. I happen to catch the crown on his watch clasp and found he was wearing a rather new 36mm DateJust. It looked great on this big guy. I had to start the conversation and the rest of the flight was all smiles for us both.

Its all about the flip, you buy something and then it just happens - FLIP. Its really something to fear, the temptation can cause havoc with even the most "seasoned WIS". It starts jumping into your thoughts right when you start reaching for the AMEX and you see the "36" sitting there; or when after you've bought something and you really like what you've got then you walk into it... ~The dreaded ROLEX Forum. You see all these watches and its there, you see and wonder, "what if" and you get these ideas, and you start evaluating your collection, and you wonder, and you eat, you drink, you contemplate, you fantasize, eating at your brain. Then the very thought begins to invade the majority of most basic needs, your having a nice breakfast with the wife and you look at your wrist and you see the laptop over there and its "on" and you see the ROLEX website on the screen and it "calls out" to you and you look. It's not a mental state to take lightly, seek help, find a friend, a fellow WIS sometimes can be of comfort, but in the end ALL they "want" is the one you are thinking to get rid of. It goes on and on...

Only difference is that in this case I wish to get rid of NONE of the 3 beauties I own. I loved the feel and look of the newer case 36 mm on my wrist, but what I really want is the Super Jubilee bracelet. JJ

Mine isn't a TT but it works for me. Check out the TT Rose Gold or Pink Gold or whatever it is called. Those are pretty stunning.

Actually the "Super Jubilee" has existed since the late 70s I believe. I bought an all 18K GMT MASTER(16718 is the model for that period if I remember,??) in 1980 and it had a Super. They just hadnt made them for SS or 2T models until recently. Unfortunately the Supercased GMTc in 18K does not have this strap which is beyond me as to why they dont have it since it was a standard strap on all previous "Pre-C" model 18Ks...

Great old thread I found. In my quest for a new Rolex, I orginally craved a 36mm TT DJ, white roman. I had a 36mm TT years ago. Though after trying on the TT BLUE pre-ceramic sub I wanted that one MORE. This may be due to the fact that my current nice watch is a 40mm Omega, and the 36mm DJ just felt so small. Decisions. I think it has been made. While I love the bluesy just know I'll wanna kill myself when the scratches all over the PCL's begin to show up. On the contrary the TT jubilee on the DJ doesn't show nearly the scratches as the sub bracelet. Look for DJ photos sometime this spring....(Oh wait, it almost is spring). Soon I hope!!

36 mm DJ or DD is just fine, 41 bigger then the sportwatches is imho strange.
