My AD thought I looked "funny"!! LOL!!

Hi guys,

I went over to my AD yesterday just to try on the 36 mm DJ 116200 to see how it looked on me.

I wore it and the saleslady said: "JJ, that looks "funny" on you!!" Sadly, I had to agree with her. It looked bloody ridiculous!!

Back to the drawing board, I guess!! Better stick with the 40 mm babies which seem to suit me best!!

Cheers - JJ

The Trend of the bigger watch I guess JJ. It seems Rolex was the last manufacturer to jump on the big watch bus. I guess they hold themselves above so called "fashion", but they did make the big watch jump a bit.
So you thought it was funny to eh? LOL You'd agree with any beautiful Rolex dealer I think. Got pics (not the watch)?

P.s JJ hows that wonderful family of yours?

I can't stand it when salespeople offer their opinions on how things look on me. I don't care what they think. Just today I picked up a pretty nice suit that I had tailored. The guy told me twice that it was a really nice suit (duh! $$$) and that it looked really good on me. It better look good on me, I had just about everything altered and spent more on the tailoring than he probably spent on his suit!
Suck up time is over, I already paid for it, last week.
I had the tailor press out the shoulder a bit, than it really looked good.
I probably would have said something like "You really think it looks funny?". Got a depressed look on my face, and followed up with "Thats too bad, I really wanted to order the meteorite and diamond Day-date, but I guess it would be too small for me too". "Oh well!" and exit immediately as they begin to stammor and backpedal.

I'm not too surprised JJ,

Pictures of 40mm watches on your wrist posted always look on the edge of being maybe being just a tad small for you.....your GMT IIC however looks perfect but you can certainly pull off larger watches.

So a 36mm? "no way".... just would not look right IMO.

My 2cents.

I'm confused. Why would JJ buy a watch from an AD in Indiana? Or did I miss this discussion? Who knew?

Thanks, Dylan.......the only sensible reply in this entire thread!!

And, Brian, no....I was not offended by the lady's remark. On the contrary, she happens to be a very old friend of mine and she's been with that AD a long, long time.

In fact, she spoke the plain and simple truth. My wrists are just too big for a 36 mm watch. In fact, just to be doubly sure, I even tried on a new TT Rose Gold OMEGA Aqua Terra in 38.5 mm and even that looked kinda small and funny.

So, it's gotta be at least 40 mm for me......although I must admit the 36 mm DJs do look very good on smaller wrists.

JJ

Hey JJ whats your wrist size then?
I never measured myself, but the GV quite doesn't fill my wrist so I must have a size simmilar to yours.
+ I had a sensible first post (#3) that raised a good point. The latter ones went out in fun.

Enjoy your evening JJ

Don't feel too bad JJ I am in the same boat. I just flipped my last DJ as it has been 2 years since I have worn it. Big or small once you wear Rolex watches like the YM, Sub, and GMT it is hard to go back to the DJ line. I still admire them but I don't wear them.

I too think the 36mm DJ is too small for you JJ. The GMT2c looks fantastic - good proportions. Looks like you're bound to spend a bit more on the 40mm's
