Adjusting the crystal?

I just got my datejust watch in today and I noticed that the crystal seems to be angled a little off. Its obvious at the date marker spot because the cyclops magnifier is sitting at a slight angle. Am I able to adjust this or if I take it somewhere will they be able to adjust it for me?

Wow, I would have concerns the watch wasn't genuine or was serviced by a complete hack. Anyone that services Rolex should be able to fix it and tell you about authenticity.

I just bought it here of TRF from one of the trusted sellers with tons of experience so Im not quite sure what to think. Ill take it in to a service center and see what they have to say also I will email the seller and see what his take on it is.

Well the cyclops is only bonded on with glue its possible the whole crystal has moved,should be an easy fix.

It just looks like the crystal is slightly rotated from optimal..

A watchmaker should be able to fix it in no time.... Don't try to rotate it yourself because the crystal is fitted to the case with a somewhat fragile gasket and messing that up would affect the water integrity.........

Who was this trusted seller??? I hope this was described before the sell!!! This is a glaring problem that not disclosing before a sale is just plain fraud.

It is stories like this that keep me from buying online.

hmmm it came from a TRF seller? That's weird! I'm sure it was just an honest mistake somewhere down the line?

no it was not disclosed before the sale and yes it was from one of the well known sellers here on trf. I would rather not disclose the sellers name right now as I just sent him an email about an hour ago to see how they wanted to handle it and I have not gotten a response back. I hope it is just an easy fix as some of you have suggested

I think you should share the name, and the outcome of this. Since I have been on the TRF all I have heard is how wonderful all the trusted sellers are, and how we are crazy to buy a watch anywhere other than from a TRF trusted seller. From your photo this watch is 100% unacceptable, UNLESS you had photos and a description of the crystal BEFORE the transaction.

I will be sharing the outcome of this. I had a photo but it was from further away than the one I posted and you could not tell the crystal was off. I even went back to my email to take a look at the photo he sent me and I still couldnt tell in that photo that the crystal was off and I knew what to look for. The was zero mention of any defects (in this case the crystal) with the watch when I was buying it. Like I said earlier, I am going to give the seller a chance to remedey this situation before I say anything of bad credit to his name.

Good plan. Check to see if it is loose too, maybe it was knocked really good in shipping or something.

Ok so I just took the watch to tourneau and a few other watchmakers and all of them told me it is not going to be an easy fix. they said they would have to send it out and the service center would have to basically take the whole watch apart to access and move the crystal. They all quoted me about $400-$500. What do you all think I should do?

Has the seller got back to you yet? I would want the cost to be paid by the seller plus more for inconvenience or I would ask for a refund and return the watch.

Calm down Eddie don't get so upset, it's just a crysatal that need some adjustment.

Erock you done tha right thing to wait for the sellers reply. I'm sure there will be a solution that you will be happy with.

There are too many guys out there that gives sellers some problems before there is a problem.

The dial does look like a bit suspect in conjunction with the misaligned crystal. Did any of the dealers open it up and verify it??

Sorry to alarm you but the dial looks odd. The white minute markers and the diamonds are too far from the edge. The Swiss Made is too big and far from the edge as well???????????????

Easy fellas, there needs to be some calm, as the guy just tried to contact the seller !

Any skilled watchmaker can make this adjustment for you for under $50. It literally takes less than twenty minutes, I know because I've had it done before when I had to replace my crystal at a local AD.

Ok update is as follows- I called the seller and he offered to have me return the watch to him and he will make it right. He did say he will be out of the country until Dec. 15 so I will have to wait until then. Im still not sure how I feel about this one but he seemed willing to try and fix the problem. Either way, this isnt something I expected to deal with from a highly trusted seller on this forum.

Without knowing who this seller is, and reading the "out of the country till the 15th" makes me think that perhaps you need to return it to him/her post-haste, and be very very sure your money gets refunded.

He/she can fix the watch, and maybe you can buy it again after he/she returns from "out of the country" ...

although he has offered to fix it, you dont want to wait month befroe you have it back looking right. if he is prepared to refund or replace the watch, id go with that option.

if he knew the watch had a problem like that, or he really didnt notice such an obvious defect in a watch he was selling- either way, i wouldnt want to buy from him.

i can only imagine your disappointment when opening the package.. very unfair.
