Has anyone had any problems with customs in bringing your Rolex (or two or three) back into the country. I'm wondering if I should put a copy of my proof of purchase in my bag.

I regularly traveled overseas on business for many years. Numerous times I was questioned by US Customs agents about my Day-Date, even when it was more than 10 years old. I tried several times to get a Customs Registration for it before going on a trip, but the Customs agents always said they would not sign one for a Rolex because the band had to be removed in order to view and confirm the serial #.

I had one particularly difficult time with a Customs agent, even though I had a copy of my insurance appraisal from a few years prior with me. He harassed me so, that I finally asked to see his supervisor who looked at my watch and my paperwork and sent me on my way.

On the other hand, I was never questioned about my watch when I was wearing my Daytona. I always carried a copy of the Daytona sales receipt with me.

I strongly recommend taking a copy of the proof of purchase with you. You may never need it, but you never know.

According to US Customs and Trademark Law, you can only hand carry 1 Rolex through Customs................

We have the US Customs page and a copy of Form 4457 over in our Reference Library if you plan on having more than that with you..

I guess that's an advantage of having the serial number engraved on the rehaut with the newer models...

Is the proof of purchase a receipt, or will the Warranty card, etc with all your details suffice ?

Usually travel with 2 or 3. Never had a problem.
