Should I have my Sub regulated?

So my Y series Sub (no date) has gained 20 secs in under a week :( I know this is not a COSC certified movement but 20 secs is a bit too much for me. I foolishly spent money on a lot of stuff recently and don't have enough to get it serviced. Am I worrying too much or 20 secs is really not acceptable? If I send it to have it regulated, will it be cheap? Also, any idea how long would it take?

If it is 20 seconds in 5 days, that is 4sec/day and completely acceptable. Pretty dang good timekeeping IMHO. If it gains 20 secs/week, that is 1 minute every 3 weeks. Set the watch one minute slow, and then only reset it every 2 months.

JMHO though.

Gosh, that's only about 3 seconds a day and well within the +6 to -3 seconds a day COSC spec. That's great accuracy. Leave it alone.

You guys make me smile with your mechanical watches,and your watch has exactly the same movement as the Explorer.The only difference one was COSC tested the other was not.But exactly the same in every way, so your watch is gaining around 3 seconds a day.And at the moment showing only 99.997% accuracy what more could anyone ask from any mechanical watch any make any price.You tell me of any other purely mechanical machine thats shows the very high precision of a mechanical watch.And like the first part of your user name to ask if your watch need regulating you must be or know very little of how a mechanical watch works.My advice leave well alone and start singing the praises to your highly accurate mechanical watch.Try resting your watch vertical crown up or down you might loose a second or so overnight.

yup, though my local watchmaker can check it out for free

he has my montblank meisterstuck GMT, service and he is going to reduce the -2 seconds that has daily....

what is more important is if the gain is the same for every 24 hour period.

that would indicate the watches accuracy.

if the gain were sporadic, then the watch has a problem.

regulating a watch will only adjust the gain to a minimum or nil,

if the gain is consistent.

Yeah the gain is consistent. It gains 3 secs everyday. So I guess thats fine

Try alternating the way you place the watch when you take it off.

I would try Face Down, Face up, Crown Down, Crown up, 0600 up, 0600 down, and not the gaain or loss.

One of these positions should help you shave off a few seconds while you sleep.

Most of all enjoy the watch........
