Early (1978) GMT 16750
Here is an early version of the GMT 16750 Rolex with a serial number dating to 1978/1979 as found on ebay. The watch appears to be in excellent condition, but the 1978 production seems very early for this watch as 1675's were still being manufactured during this time period.
The auction states "Complete with Original 1970's era inner/outer Rolex presentation boxset, hangtags, original Rolex GMT instruction manual, Rolex swim tag, Rolex Polishing Cloth, and a original Rolex Oyster instruction manual. Original owner has misplaced the original Guarantee Certificate." The accessories are not original for this watch and are circa 2000. When I see auctions like this, from established sellers on ebay, you have to wonder why it is misrepresented. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

John, I think you know why he would misrepresent the accessories ... $$$ ....
I personally have not dealt with watch-u-want but have heard only good things. This is a surprise to me. |

It's a surprise to me too Pav, but, then again, there isn't much that surprises me anymore. I'm still "out" on whether Rolex ever made a GMT 16750 as early as 1978.

The auction still reads that the watch is a 16750, and lists the "very new" accessories as original. I guess he's fishing the bay for a flounder!!!!!!!
