Newbie Question: Proper Bracelet Fit
I've had my TT Sub now for 6 months and am VERY happy with it. The bracelet as it comes stock from the AD and adjusted to it's largest size was a bit too snug for my liking when warm, but "okay" when cool/cold. I wasn't happy with the overall comfort as I prefer to wear my watches a bit looser (from my Omega Seamaster days) and as such, I purchased and had installed an extra link on the 6 o'clock side. The clasp now sits on the middle of my wrist, and the micro-adjustment pin is on the second hole from the smallest. The net result is a very comfortable, albeit loose, fit when cool/cold and still comfortably loose when warmer. The watch does slide back and forth on the wrist (but cannot roll over) and it does slide freely up and down my wrist when I raise and lower my arm - more so when cooler, but still a bit when warmer.
All of this to ask (and I do appreciate your patience) if 1) wearing the bracelet looser will cause premature wear of the hollow links and 2) if worn a big snugger, would the "pressure" of the wrist pressing against the bracelet cause more or less wear and/or stretching (i.e., more of a problem)? Any insights or advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I keep adjusting it back and forth and it's close to driving me crazy. Thank you for your time and advice. |

Metal bracelets will definitely wear prematurely if worn loose. This is the # reason that they are lost in dives. Loose metal wearing against loose metal.
The watch should be worn as you like it. Just keep in mind that you may want a watchmaker to check the condition of it more frequently. This damage is blind to the naked eye! |

I do know that the 1 finger trick is right on. However, wear the watch how you like. You will get more joy out of it that way.

By being able to insert the finger between the wrist and bracelet (as pictired above), you are ensuring yourself a comfortable fit!!

Thank you all for the detailed feedback, and JJ for the pictures - very helpful. I appreciate hearing and seeing how others wear their Rolex's. If anyone else would care to weigh in, it would be much appreciated. Happy New Year!!!

I guess to each their own...mine was just about that loose and it was driving me nuts sliding around my arm and wrist. I just don't like it that loose...I removed a large link and added a small, then adjusted the clasp and was able to nail it down.

By using the system I've pictured above, you can use that norm for just about any watch in the world. It will always ensure a comfortable fit - NOT a loose one. Try it, pal....I betcha it will work!!

We don't have any sheep here, JJ. But if I happen to run across one, I'll send for you right away. Can't ask for a better arrangement!
