Wow...just read this thread through and found some of the responses surprising. There is another old thread that has recently surfaced that has simliar comments in it too.

I can only speak for myself, but I am most certainly NOT attracted to wearing a "men's" watch because of "immaturity",appendage envy,a way to pick up men or fashion trends.I don't even read fashion magazines. In fact, yesterday,I picked up 3 magazines, one of them being watch related(i.e.International Watch),the other two on sports related subjects.

Someone suggested that as ladies,we don't "appreciate watches for the same reason" men do...hmmmmm...not really sure what that means at all.I have been educating myself about the different movements, mechanics and history of the Rolex models and find it all very fascinating.

In a different, yet similar thread, another mentioned that only if a lady was able to dive, and "walk the talk",should they be able to wear an SD.I call double standard on that one.If we required all male SD owners to be divers before they earned the right to wear that model on their wrist,I'd bet sales would dry up to a mere trickle.

Was great to see a lot of supporting posts from fellow male members...you guys rock!

I currently have three 40mm Rolex models on my "to buy" list, and will wear them because of the following:

1)I appreciate the esthetics, quality, history and precision of these timepieces.

2)The dial is so much easier to read, therefore they offer far more functionality for me.

3)I just darned well love them!!

I'm with you Lucy!!! I LOVE wearing ONLY men's models and have done so for close to 5 years now. I simply have no desire to wear a traditional ladies size.

So tell me, which three 40mms are you considering???

Yep...agree with you Karis. The traditional ladies size has always been WAY too dainty for me.They actually look quite silly on my wrist, imo. Not to mention I would need binoculors to read the dial!

I think that's why I went for a mid-size model first...at least the dial is legible. But,being used to wearing full size casual sports watches(i.e.Timex Ironman),I am drawn towards 40mm models.Have tried them on and feel they are not at all too big for my wrist.

The models I am currently lusting after are:

1)116520 SS Daytona White(I see you have that one...lucky gal!!)
2)14060M Sub no date
3)1641 GMT Master,1966(birth year model)

Of course, the above is subject to change...

....woman's perogative,right?

I think going from a mid-size to a full 40mm will be an easy adjustment...love to see other gals sporting the full size models You have my full support!

You've listed some fantastic choices. I've had my Daytona for just over 4 months now and still find myself staring at the dial....a sexy watch IMO! A Sub is well, just a staple and must have piece, in any collection IMO! And a GMT Master is super cool! I had a Pepsi and it was pretty neat...can't keep them all though...

Question about Mens Rolex for women

Hi,
I just bought a vintage man's Datejust Rolex with a Presidential band for myself (I'm a woman) and was hoping there would be a way to remove enough links to not make the watch hang on my wrist. Unfortunately, there's only one link left that's removable. So my question is, are women who are wearing men's Rolexes having a jeweler cut bands to remove links or is anyone wearing them very loose? Thanks.

Well I guess because size doesn't matter?, they just like the watch. I personally think it is a great look, but my wife doesn't agree. I sized my SS Daytona White face for her and she tried it on and said she liked the small watches better. She also said if I want her to wear that watch I had to wear her MOP Diamond DJ. It did not take long for me to put the Daytona's link back on and forget the whole ordeal.

It would be good if watches were not generalized as "ladies" or "mens" - it would nice if they were all considered to be unisex and size them by their mm egs: YM 35mm.

If a lady decides to wear a man-sized watch, there can be ONLY ONE damn reason for that - 'cause she happens to like it!!

To chuck in sexual innuendos is totally inappropriate and disrespectful to the wonderful ladies who visit this forum.

I know at least one very fine lady who owns 3 men's models and is very proud of them.

So, guys.....let's just keep it clean and green.

There is no such thing as a collectible woman's Rolex (or for that matter mid-size) and the re-sale on them seems much worse than men's.

For exactly the same reason women will often wear a man's dress shirt, and nothing

else, around the house: It's simple, it works, and it's sexy.

A Rolex is a MAN'S watch, in the context of Hemingway, Sean Connery, Clark Gable. Except for the Rolexes festooned with 'bling', it is not arch or precious in the way Pateks or Cartiers can be. Women gravitate toward that kind of thing in the instictive understanding that it's sexy as hell. That's the reason there are websites entirely devoted to women wearing men's watches, almost always Rolexes. There is no mystery here.

She is gorgeous and feminine, but she can outdo me in the gym 7 days a week, and I am 6 feet, 230, and have been lifting weights since before she was born. She can carry a 250-lb. man down a 100-foot ladder. She can bench-press your boyfriend. She is in addition an MMA fighter who is perfectly capable of beating you to a senseless pulp and putting you in the hospital with your jaw wired back together. What size of watch should she wear? How about any *%$#@ size she feels like, without smarmy comments from anybody who wants to remain standing?

same reason that men wear womens underwear.......

seriously though....why do so many men wear rolexes? same reason. Big watches have been a trend for women for years now. Only makes sense they'd choose a rolex.

The closest to water my SDDS got was my bath tub.

It just confirms that Rolex and especially the Daytona is such a tasteful design and that it has universal appeal. Sign of a true classic.

When I got in to watches about a year ago, I'd started buying watches for my GF as well so she wouldn't be mad everytime I bought a new one for myself. This resulted in that she got a little interested herself. She actually picked out her parts for a seiko diver mod, and she's been wearing that almost every day (except for when shes wearing my breilting colt of course). The huge drawback came when I asked what she wanted for her 30th birthday recently. The answer was short, quick and kinda made me regret getting her interested in watches... She replied: ROLEX SUBMARINER NO-DATE!!!!!

Well, as a good boyfriend, I went on and bought her a 14060M... Allthough I did not own a rolex myself!!! She litterally went crazy when she opened it and it was well worth the money.

She loves mens watches because she think most ladies models are to small, and the dial is often difficult to read. This is a matter of what you are used to of course, but she never uses her ladies-sized watches anymore.
Personally I cannot think of anything cooler than a women wearing a sub or daytona...
I think that most women wearing submariners knows what they are wearing and is wearing it because they absolutely love the watch, design and quality.

This is just my humble opinion and my experience...
