It does not sound right to me if your watch was brand new. Await replies from others who may know much better than me. The card is part of the package which comes with the watch.

Yes its fine. Some AD's, especially the chain store ones, keep the warranties at a central office.

I bought mine at a "chain store" so that explains it.

It is their return policy! Don't fill it out 'til after.

Costs 50.00USD to replace with a blank card.

I guess that's one benefit from buying from an independent AD. You don't have to wait for your paperwork. I would want mine upon delivery of the watch.

As already said, some chain dealer's may have the cards in their central office (I don't buy that story) and most don't want to issue the card until 30 days later because of their return policy.

Personally, I wouldn't leave the AD without the "whole enchilada." It would be no sale with no card. Watch them change their tune right away! I know people who never received the card in the mail and had problems with the AD trying to get it later.

Somewhat unrelated, but is the card sufficient for service or does one need an invoice as well?

Buy IT! My card came, addressed, from the main office (out-of-state), after 30 days!!!

I would NOT be OK with that. What if it got lost in the mail? Plus you are forking out all that cash up front...

My AD let me fill mine out at the counter and handed it to me.

If stores are holding it back in case you return the watch, that also means that they intend to resell a returned watch as new again. Makes you wonder if the one you buy is really new?
