Icon20 Newbie with a Rolex I need to ID

Hi all... just joined this forum, looking for answers... :)

My grandfather just moved to France and gave away most of his things! I scored big because I got some nice furniture and kitchen stuff, etc...

He also gave me a Rolex watch that seems never to have been used! But personally, I don't exactly like the style. It also seems to be from china or something.

Here is a picture, I want to know if anyone can recognize it, and tell me if its real? Plus, it looks like it has diamonds in it... Could anyone tell me the approximate value? Thanks everyone!

I was just asking about Rolex quartz models yesterday. Go to "Oysterquartz origins" Thread and click the link. You will see every Quartz model produced. As far as I know, Rolex never made the date at the 6 position on the quartz line.

Hi and welcome,

If it's real, it's definitely a rare model... looks really slim...

do you have other pics?

Hi codman,

Welcome to TRF. Sorry to burst your bubble, my friend, but that looks like a very poor fake. No such model was ever produced by Rolex.

Cheers - JJ

Darn... But thats kinda what I have been thinking. I don't know too much about Rolex watches, and I had a feeling it was a fake since I don't know where my grandfather got it. I thought since hes a rich guy it might be real! :) Another tip off is the plastic case it came in has something in Chinese written on it, and the band seems cheap.

There is nothing written on the back which also tipped me off a little. Here are a few more pics...

Thanks for your help!

Sorry codmac. never mind the case back and the pouch. It should have "swiss" on the bottom of the dial.
Just curious.....any numbers between the lugs?

Most Rolex watches don't have any writing on the back anyway. Some have it on the bracelets for proper identification.
Sorry about the fake...

Hi codmac, welcome to TRF.

The bad news, the watch isn't a Rolex.

The good news, you've found the TRF Twilight Zone from which there is no return. You'll have the real deal soon enough.

The ONLY quartz Rolex ever made was the Oysterquartz. Any other Rolex with the word QUARTZ printed on the dial is positively a FAKE!!
