Yeah, I just love 'em to death, David. There's just something about cats that works for me. I'm fascinated by them. I briefly considered getting a second cat when I adopted Willie, but we also have a Golden Retriever and live in a small condo, so it just wasn't feasible at this time. Besides, I've pretty much been a one cat guy over the years. Great companions.

Speaking about cats... MANY years ago, when I first bought my condo, the old owner had fed a stray cat that hung around here. I wasn't much of a cat person (that has changed by the way) and I remember saying: "Well, I'M not going to be feeding any stray cat, I don't want him around here." The morning after I moved in I opened the front door and found a dead mouse on my mat. The cat (I ended up naming him "Wallace") was sitting behind it, looking at me, actually kind of beaming. I understood this was a gift, a housewarming gift and he was offering it to me.....
From that moment on, that cat had gourmet food, fresh filtered water in it's dish, and the best medical treatment money could buy; nothing was too good for MY cat! Sadly, a year later he developed a kidney disease, I had to have him put down. As the vet gave him the shot, I held him in my arms and cried like a baby. It brings tears to my eyes to this day... and to think I didn't want a stray cat around my place.... Ok, now I've got to go dry my eyes.... WHO'S stupid idea was it to start a pet thread!??!?!?!?!?! |

My Cocker Spanial, Teddy was a mush, he was 12 when he died in my arms, I had him when he was first born, raised him like a child and loved him till he died of a heart condition. He loved the big yard we had and would love to run the fence line all the time. Talk about tears Teddy was a "little people" very smart and when he died my vet was crying as bad as I was. |
