Rolex's on rubberstrap
Hi all,
I was thinking that Rolex is one of the few brands that have not followed the trend with rubberstraps, almost all other top brands (as Omega, AP, PP, Breitling, Panerai, Cartier, JLC, to name a few) offer their watches some kind of rubberstaps (ok, Rolex has some weird models with rubber with integrated dimonds, but these dont count), is this good or not? Should Rolex stick to bracelets and leather staps? What do you think? /masterkiller

I wish Rolex did offer a heavy rubber strap (at least for the Sub and SD).
As to why they don't? This is unknowable. Perhaps they don't trust the material to survive the extremes some users submit their watches to? I would think that when they were working with Comex this came up and was rejected for some reason. So I guess I'll just have to get a Stingray Leather/Rubber strap festooned with diamonds for my Sub...

Agreed! Omega and others have nice rubber options. I just bought a head only 14060 and am searching for options. Bracelets are expensive, my nato is nice - but I will tire of that as the sole option. I wore a MKII diver for a few months and it had an amazing thin, soft black rubber strap that melted on my wrist - this isnt rocket science guys...

This is one of the main reasons I can't be a Rolex only guy, I want to be able to change up between straps and bracelets. Rolex would have more of my money if they would offer a diver with bracelet and ruber strap quick change system like so many other brands offer.
People talk about how Rolex is offering bigger cases and ceramic bezels to keep up with the times, well if this is 100% true, they need to start offering some strap options instead of just bracelets on tool watches. My next watch will probably be a Omega PO or IWC Aquatimer 2000 on rubber, why, because I want a dive watch that I can wear a strap or a bracelet. Look at the Aquatimer 2000, you can change from a bracelet to a ruber strap without any tools, it's a amazing system and Rolex needs something like this to keep up with the top divers in production today. Rolex seems to think that we are all impressed with producing a watch that will go deeper than any human possibly can, not me. Give me a watch with a quick strap changing system like IWC and a 1000ft depth rating and I am a happy camper.

Tudor offers some models with rubber straps. I think Rolex tries not to deviate from tradition. But current day Tudors are more on trend watches. I believe they use the Tudor brand to practice trends.

I would like to see a high quality rubber strap included with the new SS Sub. I think it would be a nice move by Rolex to do this, however can't see it happening.

Rolex is missing out big time with not offering aftermarket straps. Omega charges a lot of money for a rubber strap but it is very nice and fits perfectly. Cant understand why Rolex of all brands, refuses to make even more money from their customers????

I feel the same way. I've been thinking about buying a sinn rubber strap with the big deployant clasp to put on my sea dweller. I've heard the sinn rubber is great and about half the price of omega. The omega rubber straps are top notch though.

Oscar my friend, I had the Panerai bug last year. All the aftermarket straps were so much fun, you can have one watch and make it look totally different every day of the week, I still like them. I sold the 2 I had when I bought a new car, I figured it was silly to have a few watches sitting in my drawer and have to make car payments. So maybe I need to think about another Pam when I buy my next watch, good point. OK, so now my next watch with either be a Omega PO, IWC Aquatimer 2000 or another Panerai.

That band looks fine. I've seen plenty of rubber, and leather on Rolexes and they are a good chango of pace.

I don't think I'll wear my submariner on anything else, Mike.
