Avalon's Home Made Watch
Al, I'd send this in a PM but since you canvassed the great unwashed about dial and hand colour...
How's your 'home-made' watch doing? Is it keeping good time? Have you had to regulate it much since you built it? Inquiring minds want to know. Post some pix. I think you're the only one here who's done the TZ shop class. |

Actually, I'm a bit embarassed to say that it's not quite finished yet. I think I'm spending too much time on watch forums to get it done.....
One of the issues is that the level 1 course doesn't tell you how to case the watch, so I'm kind of guessing and asking questions of others who have done it to get the thing finished. I have the dial and hands mounted, but scratched the hands in the process, so will order a new set for it. It's a learning experience, that's for sure..... I have yet to cut the stem to the right length, and mount it all in the case. Once that's done, attached the strap and it's a real watch. Since I put the hands on (hour and minute only) I did check it over 24 hours and it seemed to be good for timing as best I could tell (so within a minute). I hope to work on it more over the weekend, in fact. JJ - I was thinking of painting a fake coronet on it and selling it to you...... |

If you gave it to me as a gift, I'd treasure it as something from a good friend!!
