Be careful: sales practices rolx2010

Post for 18k bezel date watch: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=116727

3:47 price reduced to $575 for head
4:41 emailed indicating i will take it
a few minutes later a PM that I will take it
4:43 email from Joe confirming if i will use postal money order
4:57 i confirmed and reconfirmed i will buy it.requested his address follow up emails with my address
5:03 email from Joe indicating "I had someone grab it for 650" ..

This does not smell right. Could be an inexperienced seller or perhaps a problem seller. Some of my research indicated some other sales activity on other forums.

Joe has the opportunity to explain here if there is a legitimate reason for this behavior.

Someone made a better offer and he took it, simple as that, you got gazumped. Happens all the time, many times to me. Forget about it and move on i reckon, no harm done.

The Blue Prince,

This is not a recommended sales strategy on TRF.

I know. But what can you do. Let them get on with it and not get involved/rise to making another offer is how i deal with people who do that. Best not to get pissed off and just move on and forget about it and the seller....plenty of better pieces and better sellers

I wonder if he actually has the watch. It may help him and us for the buyer to come forward so that we either know about this guy or he can legitimize.

Yes, in addition to moving on, it is highly appreciative that a member is sharing this information here in hopes of preventing future potential issues of others. This is a great example of why this specific forum exists.

Cheers,

Blaine

I don't like the fact that it was posted at a lower price, and then sold to someone for more. Also, once someone begins the discussion about payment methods, and where to mail it, seems like a deal, and shouldn't be up for sale any longer. There was a thread last week on buying, selling moral issues.
