Can't decide-GMTllc -SDDS- Pam 312K
I really like all 3 but can only afford 1. Which one have the better movement 3536, 3586 or P9000. Which one will hold its value better.
Thanks, Steve |

There was a post on this same topic yesterday, between the SDDS and the 312. It looked like the 312 won by a landslide, which would definitely be my choice between the three. Unless your blinded by the Rolex crown, the 312 is the way to go, it is stunning and all the different straps make it so versatile.

Love everything about DSSD, but I cannot live with the bracelet. So off it goes. Thinking of giving it a second chance....
GMT2c is a very balanced watch and the built is significantly more superior than 312 IMO. But the dial is small. Which is why, I only wear Daytona and GV. The rest of the Rollies are either gone or just providing some bathroom entertainment. 312 is a perfect package in a way for Panerai. Good entry price level, nice in-house movement. 1950 case. Date without inner magnification. The ability to change straps is fun yet, expensive hobby by itself..... But if I can only own 1 watch for the next few years and I have to choose from these 3. Somehow, I will choose the Deepsea. Maybe because it suits my personality more. And 312 is actually quite common over here. My main criteria in buying a watch is not only about how good it is, but how common it is. GMT2c is way too common thus, I've never even really considered it, except for the gold ones. Edit P.S. It also depends what you like and if Resale value is a considering factor. GMT2C will hold it's value better over the other 2. However, will that change when the Sub C becomes a common flair remains a ?. |

That is such a hard choice. Functionally the IIc would be the best for me, but the DS and 312 are such stunning pieces.
Good luck with this one. |

DSSD...absolutely no doubt whatsoever...I have the GMT2c and while not the 312 have the 104....I NEVER wear the GMT anymore....and it is on the flip list. The PAM gets worn very occasionally....
The DSSD is an outstanding watch....and IMO the only Rolex that I will have for life.

GMT Ii is the perfet time piece in which all Rolex lover should hv, IMO.
however, PAM 312 is one of the beauty we should consider after hving GMT II. DS is outstanding watch but thick and heavy. |

between the 3 Definitely GMT2c!
pam 312 or any other luminor pam. not very versatile it is huge and will find it difficult to fit in long sleeves. it is also an attention getter, if you like to get noticed it will suit you. but i dont think that trend will stand the test of time. and wont look good on small wrists. dont know about the dssd but i saw it up close and i think its even bulkier than a pam. i think mainly ok for jeans and shirt. my experience with thick watches is i cant move freely knowing my watch can get scratched doing stuff. gmt2c best overall. the gmt hand is VERY useful and practical. solid bracelet and feel too. my only comment is that you will want a more casual watch to keep it company. just my opinon, go with what you like. good luck |

From someone who had been faced with a similar dilemma before...
1. GMTIIC or 312 2. DSSD Sorry I can't help you any more than that. However, here are some 312 shots.

Very tough question because IMHO Pams and Rolex's are very different watches.
I have always loved Rolex's, however in the past few moths I have been seriously shopping for a Pam. I have even picked out s few straps and I am always looking for more! For me the 312 beats out the GMT 2 slightly, but if considering holding its value I'd go with the GMT. After all, it is a Rolex and there will always be a market for them and everyone knows the watch.

First off, welcome to TRF Steve!
I think it kind of depends on what you already have. But, assuming you do have something Rolex, I'd go with the 312. If not, I'd definitely do the GMT!! |

I agree with Bert. The GMTIIc is the most versatile as far as what you can wear it with. I just got a PAM 310 yesterday and feel like I have to wear something that would compliment the watch. I never have to worry about this with the GMT. BUT, while I love the GMT the PCL's annoy me to no end. I find myself constantly wiping the fingerprints off or being careful not to touch them due to my OCD. The PAM I just look and admire without worrying how good it looks because it always looks good. As for resale value, if you're buying new, Rolex all the way. Good luck with your decision.

I just don't think you can go wrong with the IIc. It has become my goto for daily wear.

Tough one...
I own the 312 and the IIc. Love them both and they take equal turns on my wrist. Having owned many Panerais, the 312 is a great piece as it has a sandwich dial, silver-colored hands which stand out, 1950 case, and best of all, an in-house movement... all this at a reasonable price. The IIc is the only Rolex I've ever owned and although I love it dearly, its possibly about to be flipped for a 1675. I'm sure I will own a IIc again, but the 1675 speaks to me more right now and can't afford both.
I've seen the SDDS in person and although I love the head, the bracelet is too small for it. I've seen it on Nato straps and that makes it look quite bada**! Go with what speaks to you and good luck! |

I have all three and love all of them for different reasons. Not easy to choose just one. I wear the Deepsea and the 312 more for casual and probably the GMT more for a little dressier. I would have to say however, if I had to choose just one of the three, for me it would be the Deepsea. Everyone is different and we all like different things for different reasons, so that being said, choose the one you like the best. Any of them are a good choise.

Difficult choice...
312- I just sold mine, got no wrist time at all, impossible to get under shirt cuffs and way to uncomfortable on 6.75" wrists doing sports, but a real nice watch if one likes changing between different types of leather straps DSSD- Tried it on at an AD, realised no way I could wear it due to its height , so I bought the Millie GV instead. GMTIIC- Fit perfectly, looks great but a a bit shiny like Breitling and getting as common as the 16610 sub. Even my plumber has one My advise .. bring friend/wife to AD and consider the following; Fit, consider both width and height with a shirt on? Do you need GMT function? Too shiny? American/Italian tendencies? If so go big size |
