Possible scam on TRF?

Or an impatient seller.
http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=120298
Seller relisted this item today. I've had a few pms earlier with him. He insists on postal mo or westin onion payment ONLY. Both unsafe methods as far as I'm concerned. I finally agreed to the po mo and would try to get him the payment for the head only by Monday due to the inconvience of work going to the bank and then the po as they are closed on Saturdays here. Since then he has not responded and has just bumped his add knocking another +35 off.

I'm not sure this deal is on the level or if he just wants his payment and deal done yesterday.

Method of payment

See if he will meet at his town. We do have a "plethora" of members throughout...

We can weed this one out!

ask for more pictures? pictures don't match up -- one has a date/timestamp, the other doesn't. one is a pretty small picture, the other quite sizeable... weird in my book.

If a deal sounds too good to be true.... An 18k datejust head with a 3035 movement for $595. The gold alone in the head is probably worth that much.

His profile shows to be in CA, it's not local for me to meet and greet.

Newbie member with low post count accepting only unsafe payment options = suspect.

Someone should offer to meet.

Read his payment description again and real slow. He claims that he is not set up for accepting a wire transfer?????:thinki ng:

If you have a bank account you are set up to receive a wire transfer. If anyone wants to try, just send me a PM and I'll give you my bank account number so you can wire me some money!:chuckle :

I e-mailed the same guy and got a response from him saying that he doesn't accept paypal or wire and recommended that any postal service office here in Canada sells USPS Money Order. He also mentioned that he doesn't have a better picture of the watch (face looks blurry). I asked him questions about more details of the watch but have not responded. This makes me think twice as well.

Oh and BTW Jn, he responded to me today at 6:58 pm EST. So he's negotiating with someone else despite your earlier arrangement?

PM him asking where in CA he is and we will see what comes of it. If he is in my neck of woods I will see what he has, use a AD to see if it is real.

I hate to say this, but I feel this guy needs to be banned. Too much negativity coming from his sale.
Mods should email him and ask what is up.
Maybe I'm outta line here, but I just don't like this guy already!

Lets give him a chance to respond to my email and see what becomes of that, no harm no foul. If he is close to me I would be happy to meet at a AD and look at the watch. I could always use another date Rolex.

Mike look at the lugs on the case, notice the stamping. It was for a gold band at one time.

Good eye David, but that does not look like Rolex craftsmanship to me. The stamping can easily (and is) commonly faked.

You are right, and if he responds to my email, I will let you guys know. I do not mind driving to a AD for a authentication of a watch. Lets see if he will make contact. Then we can make a judgement on the seller.
