I need a 2d Rolex but I don't know which one

I have a submariner. I like it. So I was planing to buy another Rolex.

First I was set on a GMT2, but as it wasn't so easy to get at good price I started thinking about the GMT2c (that I didn't like at all first).

Now, after a few months, I again dislike the GMT2c because the bezel is way too busy and I don't like maxi dial so much. And the case is not sleek enough. Looks somewhat too much. And all people buy it and I don't want to be a social clone.

So I thought about the exlorer 2 in black. 2 times zones, sleek, nice dial and possibility to buy a 2de dial in white. But it loses its value and I am not sure that I like the bezel.

Now I wonder about the 1000 gauss. The dial is different from my Submariner so would compliment it. But it seems huge on the wrist. The dial looks giant compared to the submariner.

I am lost. The more I look every watch, the less I know what to buy.

What would you buy and why ?

If you've already got a Sub, then you might want a white dial watch. The Exp II is a real bargain on the used market. Then you'll have two very-different looking sport watches.

If you decide against another Sport type, take a look at the new Datejust II

Get the GMT2 coke or pepsi--they are great and "complicated movement" and is collectable now. I got one and decide to buy another one since it was 97% condition and was for $4000 in a store in Chicago--I have a sub and seadweller also.
Check out New York Jewelers in chicago--they had 4 GMT all about 90% and up few days ago. They are great --in business over 100 years. I got it for $4000

Try out an Explorer-II. "Losing value" all depends on your entry price. No rule requiring you to pay MSRP at the beginning.

Ask yourself if you still want the sport or dress watch? If sport, then go for EX2 or wait for the new Sub.

If dress then go for DJ. Milgauss is also a good choice too.

Color is not what will decide me to buy a model instead of another. Actually I prefer the back dial on the explorer 2 so if i buy it it will be black.

Sport.

Any watch with a bracelet is a sport watch.

A dress watch should have a leather strap and be thin. For exemple the JL master ultra thin in 34mm is a dress watch.

DJ is a sport watch (dress watches don't need to be water proof at 100m)

I didn't plane to buy at tag price. Grey or second hand for any purchase.

I thought about it. I like it on some pics. Don't on others. But its is less easy to find second hand and more expensive.

And if for any reason I need to change the bezel, is will cost very much (at least 1 000 euros). So i don't see what having a platinium bezel will bring me apart from spending more.

Too expensive to buy and to service.

I don't like so much chronographs and it is not so easy to read.

But I may buy it one day, we never know. But not this time.

Let's see if the explorer2 will bring me new comparing to the submariner :

1) BEZEL
Different bezel in color (grey with black numbers), function (not rotating), material (all steel), shape (no teeth and no the same angle)
==> So very different from a submariner

2) DIAL
A date, a cyclop, a new red hand
==> Similar dial but I have the feeling that one the submariner, your eyes go on the bezel while on the explorer they go on the dial because the bezel is in steel. The red hand stands out and the cyclop changes the dial balance.

3) FEATURES
Date, day/night reading, 2de time zone
==> Funny and useful way to read time

4) Bracelet
SEL
==> Change slightly the look and the feel

So the explorer 2 seems to fit much better than the gmt2 because it doesn't look like a diver watch like the gmt2 does.

Took me 3 years to buy the submariner because I wasn't sure. I ended up paying it 40% more. So now I don't want to wait the next increase or discontinuation of the model (like for the GMT2 I missed)

I did :

Need vs want??

I'd venture to say its more a want than a need good buddy!

Why not go down to the AD and try a whole bunch on your wrist and see which one you really "want" - one of them I'm sure will fit the proverbial bill :)

Don't forget about the White dial option on the Exp-II. Very different looks.

The Sub and Exp-II bracelets look similar, but that's where the similarities end. You really have to try these two on one after another to appreciate the differences. The Exp-II bracelet is a little lighter, but the big difference in wear and feel comes from the clasp and caseback.
--The Sub really sits higher due to the thicker caseback; you can really feel the Sub's head on the back of your wrist. The Exp-II is much lighter.
--The Exp-II's clasp is about 40% shorter and thinner than the Sub's when closed. This again makes the clasp more comfortable, but especially when working at the desk or computer. I can feel my Sub clasp resting on the corner of the laptop right now--my Exp-II never does this.

I know about the different fit and feel. I was just talking about the look.

I would keep the white as an option if I am fed up withe the black (dial swap)
