If finances permitted, I'd plunk down $150,000 for a Patek 5970p. It'd make a great summer beater.

I had a $2 watch once from the local market that would gain about 15 minutes a day.
Now I have a GMT.
Limit probably around 10k.

The problem with a limit is when for a few extra k your move into a whole different watch in many cases. It all depends ..... Best approach---Buy what you can afford without evading your savings and priorities--keep it all in perspective.

before owning rolex watches, my budget could not exceed $1500.00, now... who knows ? if i can afford it, i may buy it...
