3. On the sport divers is 904L steel used in all the case and bracelet components or are some 316L? As a rule of thumb, all Rolex sport watches which have the new clasp are constructed entirely of 904L.

Which models have this new clasp? Is this new clasp also on the V series Submariners and other models???

Afraid you guys make too much about the 904L over 316L or any other S.Steel.There is nothing magical about 904L over 316L just slightly different chemically in composition and its cost more.But if Rolex never advertised the fact they use now 904L purely as a brag factor know-one would be any wiser what type of S.steel was used.Now take 304L S.steel add a bit MO, and it becomes 316L and add a bit extra Nickel and Chome to 316L and it becomes 904L WOW..

The post referred to (which is a blank link for me) is likely tied to Rolex recent advertisements for the 116610 that say "Now in 904L", and word out of Basel that a Rolex Exec was heard saying "All bracelets with new clasps are entirely 904L."

these statements are what conspiracy theorists thrive on............ out of context they are absolutely meaningless and have led to speculation that those bracelets with stamped clasps are therefore "not entirely 904L". This is a conclusion that cannot be proven.

There is much myth mixed with fact in the world of Rolex...........

Here are two facts as they pertain to your question..

1 - The V Sub 16610 bracelet does not have a "new" clasp......

2 - It is not possible to know what grade of stainless it is made of without a chemical analysis.

You seem to recycle your old posts quite a bit. Do you have them on a copy/paste sheet somewhere for easy access? Try and answer the question next time rather than paste your rants. No one asked if it was better, they asked if it was used.

By bringing down 904L and the fact that Rolex markets it at EVERY opportunity, all you are doing making readers feel that you really don't like Rolex. Why are you even a member? (or moderator even??) Part of the enjoyment of owning a Rolex, or any other brand/product for that matter, is knowing that it is that little bit better than the next. Fair point about 904L not being that much better to the average user, no one is disagreeing with you there, but sometimes is it nice to know that you DID indeed get the 904L model/bracelet/etc.
