AR on the cyclops
Just got a GMT IIc and the AR on the cyclops, IMHO, make a big difference in date viewing. Too bad all models don't have it.

The new Subs also have the cyclops coated.......
I'll bet that Rolex does the entire line that way soon............

Regrettably the AD did not tell me about this addition when I bought my Sub, the coating is easily damaged. I have quite a large dot on my cyclops now that is easily visible in certain light and at certain angles, so it looks like the crystal has been damaged.

Actually, it is not on the cyclops, but under the crystal and on top of the crysta. The image shows how the crystal would look with the cyclops removed. Click the image to show the technical description (from http://www.minus4plus6.com/116710.htm) -Sheldon

I think al modern watches should have ar coating. It makes the time easier to read, & it really makes the dial come alive. I hope ar on the cyclops is just the beginning in the right direction, & that rolex will also adopt onto the actual watch crystal itself. HAGWE!

Can we just "coat" our cyclopses with an AR liquid of some sort? Do you think Lenscrafters has something like this?

AR coating is best underneath crystal or cyclops on top it can get scratched if it does ,then it looks simply awful.

Agreed. AR coating for the exposed surface of the entire crystal would be a disaster. Hello finger prints and scratches!

Breitling, and Fortis have the AR, and the crystal looks invisable. You do notice it when the watch is on the steering wheel, and the sun is in front of you, but it has a blue polarized look to it.
As Padi56 mentioned the coating is best under the crystal for it's protection. |
