2 weeks of Watch monogamy with my GMTc...now I get it!

Over the past few years I have amassed a fair collection...and have always been a believer in having a specific watch for each specific situation.

But the one downside of having steady rotation is that they really just become fashion accessories...and as much as I love each of them, I don't really have that relationship, that deeper level of appreciation.

So, I decided that the last 2 weeks I would just wear one watch, my GMTc...no matter what I was doing, where I was going, what else i was wearing...

and all I can say is....WOW!

I now understand how you can have JUST ONE WATCH!...and I think that this would be it...

Something special happens when you wear a watch all the time...you pick up on subtleties that you didn't notice before...little glimpses of it as you look in the mirror, the way it looks in low light, in sunlight...

The way it keeps incredible time...I've never cared much about the +/-3 sec per day, because normally I'd never have the same watch on for more than a day or two at a time...but when you think about it, it's an incredible work of engineering to have an automatic movement keep time THIS WELL!

I also really got to love the PCLs...something that I could take or leave before this little trist...when they hit the light just right, it's like magic..

The AR on the cyclops...another brilliant addition...

When people talk about comfortable bracelets, I had no idea what they were talking about, but Now I do...this bracelet really caresses the wrist.

I could go on and on...I almost feel guilty about the fact that I have had this watch in my collection all this time and never really appreciated it!

I finally get it! I realize how you could have just one...

I strongly believe the GMTIIc will be my favorite as well. In fact, if I were to pare down to just one, the 116710LN would probably be the keeper

not quite...but I do plan to spend more "quality time" with each of them..

I think I'll rediscover Bluesy next....but I am finding it hard to take off the GMT.

Yep SS GMT IIc is fine. I am seriously thinking of getting an 18K one.

I would have to say that is the most comfortable and versatile watch I have. If I had to have just one, this would be it. And yes, I'd pick it over the new SS ceramic sub, because I like the thicker case and combination of polished bracelet and ceramic insert.

I know what you mean I have imposed a 1 watch limit on myself as well and am very happy with my Explorer II. All the things you mention noticing is the same way I feel wearing this every day. The subtley of the dial refelecting in bright sunlight, the contrast of the white markers with the black mirror polish dial, the contrast of the polished edge on the lip of the bezel and case against the brushed steel of the bezel... all these things jump out at me after spending so much quality time with my new time keeping friend!

I don't know if the GMTc really beats any of them...I just think that wearing one watch exclusively for the last little while has made me appreciate it on so many different levels...

I wear my GMTIIc 24/7. It never leaves my wrist, even when sleeping and showering. It's become a part of my arm...my best timekeeping friend. It's dead accurate all the time and takes a bloody beating on land and goes swimming on a regular basis. It looks great mowing the lawn or in a board room. It's the contemporary masterpiece of Rolex design and engineering and lives up to it's reputation as being "the best Rolex ever made".

I 100% agree with you about wearing one watch for over or up to 2 weeks - I was also rotating my watches just about every day...but recently have not done this no matter how much I wanted to return to the safe and change. The result...well first it was the Daytona..and I really fell in love with the watch...as you stated the change in different light...the little things you just never noticed..and now it's the GMT2c....and the PCL's are fantastic...I firmly believe they make the watch now. I have the Sub and DSSD for a different bracelet .....
Now I just have to decide which one goes away with me for a trip to Europe.....!
