Incoming!!!!!

I never thought I would buy another brand.....but certain people here, who shall remain annonymous (but you don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to guess who they are), convinced me with their enthusiasm and pictures....I expect this to land sometime next week....

Joking aside......big big thanks to Dan for his guidance.....and to Mark (2th Doc) for making me feel I had to "keep up".....damn...I guess I need a Pepsi as well then.....

Congrats, but you can't be seen riding a Colnago with that fine timepiece......time to buy a 2010 Cannondale Hi-Mod Super Six

......O.K. you can keep the Campag 11 Speed Super Record groupset

No way Stevo.....I'll stick with another oldie but goodie...as pictured, you should be able to tell what it is if you know your bikes.....sorry B&W press photo from an Irish daily in 1997 during the FBD Milk RAS......black dial DJ was on my right wrist, you can't see it but I know it was there...

Bill are you saying 'Colnago' and 'steel'......oh no you are a vintage bike guy
Looks like 8 speed Campag (at least it's not like the guy behind you with ShimaNO STI ) and first generation Look pedals

Bill it is 2010 and there are new bikes

I've got to admit the Colnago paint job quality is and has been the best in the business.

That's a carbon fibre Colnago C40....with steel forks (it is now fitted with carbon ones)....the groupset is the last non-carbon parts (except for the brake hoods which actually have the word carbon on them) Record 9 speed....the pedals are also Campag Record Look, they look like the first generation pedals but they were brand new then......wheels are trusty Mavic GP4's, Vittoria CX tubs built onto Record hubs....the bike now has a full record 10 speed set-up but looks much the same to the non-trained eye......it doesn't go as fast these days though.....

C40 mmmm I wasn't sure with what I thought (my mistake) were steel looking lugs (like a Prince or something similar), I thought it was a Prince. Vittoria do make some of the best tyres out there The C40 has a lot of palmares in European Pro Cycling, and I can understand the affection you have for it.

"...it doesn't go as fast these days though...." You know why (the engine I suspect)

For SS watches there are no better bikes than Litespeed Titanium models or at least early 2003/2004, I still have a limited edition vortex (100 made) and a trusty Blade both looking as sharp as the day there were purchased

Maybe pic with watches and bikes is in order?

That Vortex was my grail for several years. I'd love to see a photo of yours!!!!
What happened to the high end Litespeeds??? everyone seems to have gone carbon fibre
I still have one Litespeed, an 'Owl Hollow' mountain bike.

Those 6AL/4V Titanium bikes are awesome.

I know we're off topic here, but I love classic and vintage bikes - Colnago, Pinarello, Masi (Italy), Guerciotti, Rossin, DeRosa, Eddy Merckx etc....

Nothing defined the 80's (and the pinnacle in Italian bicycle metalurgy) more than these speed-reducers (but not stoppers ) from Campy - the Deltas!

Yeah. It's too bad Campy forgot how to make beautiful bike parts. Sure, the newest stuff works great and is super light-weight, but it doesn't have the jewel-like charm anymore.

I know....do you remember in the eighties they made a run of side pull calipers called "Cobalto", the centre of the main securing nut has a blue insert....they were gorgeous....if you like that sort of thing.....I even loved the rims they made in the eighties....they were bomb proof, even better than GP4's if that's possible.....you're right....it'll never go back to how it used to be......crikey, I must be getting old...

Of course I remember the Cobalto brakes. Lovely stuff, but the blue "gem" inserts were prone to falling out. In addition to watches, one of my other passions is cycling and collecting classic framesets and bike parts.

My favorite Campy brake calipers were the Chorus Monoplaner. Just simple solid calipers with an aero look and that great Campy shield etched into the side of the brake arms.

Check this for old stuff

I think I posted this before but this is a genuine PDM team issue Time Trial bike.....a friend lent it to me for a season.....it was old then but I got some great results on it.....I actually won a couple of National Championships that year......most folk were riding much more up to date bikes....I got a massive kick (as did the owner) out of sticking it to them on an old bike......we're a bit off topic now but seeing as I started the thread and Stevo's involved we should be fine just now

Here's a couple of Pictures of my Vortex in the bunch and prior to a stage, along with the more up to date Carbon stiffer stuff - Ridley. All are great bikes but nothing compares to the smooth ride of Ti

Big congrats on the Tudor!

But man - I absolutely LOVE the racing pics in this thread. Fantastic guys. Thx for sharing.

(cyclist here myself, but unfortunately I had to cut back on the racing when I was hit by a car back in -05 on a training run)

Again, great stuff guys!

Cheers,
Joe

Thx Bill. (since I moved out here, been living here now for about 3 years, I don't think about it that much. It's not like Shanghai is the best place to do any cycling anyway... )

Again, big congrats on this beautiful time piece!

Cheers,
Joe
