So, my GMT inserts are..

finally on the way!!

I picked up these two for $125 - both 71 vintage.

The black is NOS and the pepsi is ever so slightly used.

Hopefully here by the weekend and I can post more pics...

erm....I tried...but alas, no joy replacing the pepsi with black so before I sratch the damn thing I guess I better take it to a watchmaker.

Ps. I gave Jockes tutorial tips a try but still couldn't get it right :( - it really looks a lot easier than it is.

update: I stopped at the local watchmaker this am and also no joy - he couldn't get it in any further than I could.
When I got home I tried the "newer" pepsi and went in like it came out - no hassle at all.

So I'm leaving it in for now just in case it was pot luck (which it probably was) and I can't get it back in on the second attempt.

It is possible I suppose that the black insert is for the newer GMT's as I believe they are only half a millimeter or so difference in diameter. Will have to haul out the vernier and check the sizes.

Will post pics later on

It's easy to change. It takes some courage the first time, but not hard at all.

Not when you try to insert a 16710 insert into a 1675
