Would you do this trade?

Hi!

My friend is coming to see me this weekend. I know that he is totally IN LOVE with my 2009 Breitling Navitimer with Black dial and black leather band.
The thing is that i am equally in love with his 2005 Submariner LV, but he doesnt know that..and he never will:)

The Submariner is more or less used every day for 5 years, and i would have to send it to RSC for a polish (it has never been polished) and service emidiatly. Should i do this trade? The MSRP is kind of the same, but mine is like brand new, and his is pretty "old" and very udes. I havent asked my friend yet either, i just told him to bring all his watches.. So he might just say NOO..

If we were talking about putting some money in, who do you think would have to give the other one money? Pres and Cons of both models please:) One really bad thing about my Breitling is that is not waterproof (30m) so i cant even take a shower with it

Thank you!!

Martin

I'd do it! The Sub will appreciate IMO more than the Breitling. Plus I'm partial to Subs.....Go for it!

Pros: It's a Rolex!

Cons: None!

BTW, a Breit-who?

Assuming price is roughly equivalent, sure! You've got the Daytona, so the chrono is covered, and I prefer the Superocean Heritage over the Navitimer, anyway.

The LV has so many perks.....Maxi dial, ability to switch bezel inserts for black, special anniversary model.

If it were the inverse, though, I wouldn't be so sure....So, I'd be surprised if your friend says "yes".

Hi, thank you, nice thoughts about the crono and that part!

YEah, i dont think he will go for it..It was his first watch too.
A couple of months ago he said that he would never sell it. But at the same time. Every time we meet he wants to look at, and try on, and carry around my Navitimer. He is so in love with it haha.

He just bought a Superocean Heritage himself, but what he really wanted was the Navitimer..

I started another thread about putting a pepsi ring onto his LV? Thats impossible right?

Thank you!

I'd keep the Navitimer as I think that it's the quintessential and iconic watch in the entire Breitling line, especially as they are now moving to a more contemporary look. There are very few watches that look like the Navitimer. Plus I've never been a big fan of the current LV.

I don't think any of the two watches will appreciate in value, but the Rolex will depreciate less.

X2

To the untrained eye there are alot of rolex's that look very simular
GMT, SUB, SeaDweller (of course we can tell the difference very easily) but the Breitling there are not too many watches that look like it, it is a gorgeous time piece one of a kind! Just my oppinion though.

I'd do it in a heart beat... if you decide that is the route you'd like to take... let's hope your friend goes for it.

I think the Navi is an iconic watch, to me the LV is not as an iconic a watch as the normal sub.

The normal sub is though and if the trade were for a normal sub then I might go for it but you have a classic Navitimer which I would find hard to part with!

I have a 2007 LV. I have worn it everyday for 3 years. Love it and get tons of compliments. Send it to get buffed up and it will look like new. I love mine and think if you are already in love with his it sounds like a good deal!

Navi is too busy for me.

I'd go sub. Get a black bezel insert.

If I was in your shoes I would do the deal - hell I'd even pay a little extra to do it.

If I was in his shoes - no way I would pull off the trade.

Hmmm, what's under the hood? An ETA 7750 vs 3135. The Navitimer is a beautiful watch; however, IMHO it's a Chevy engine in a Ferrari body. Sorry to "dis" your watch. Definitely ask; however, I find it unlikely that he would say yes. Good luck.

IMO the Navitimer is the only Breitling worth getting, it's the most classic, and I will own one one day.

That being said I wouldn't trade a Rolex for one.

but on THAT note...I wouldn't trade a new watch for an old (non-vintage) piece.

Do the trade . . .I personally am not a Breitling fan (too busy for my taste) and the Rolex is a great looking watch. Once buffed, you'll never know it's 5 years old! Good luck!

I've found that Breitlings don't hold value too well. I have had several, and highly recomend the brand.

Rolex is a little different. It's like mini realestate. If you could trade for the Rolex, you'd be on the better end of the deal. Unless the Breitling is a limited edition, you might not have an even trade.

You should be happy with either one, but the Rolex is a little beter investment.
