I recently got the new sub with random serial no but I also have my name for the sub c I am in two minds either to keep this or sell it to get the ceramic version, the only reason I feel a bit confused is that I have a gmt 2c and I feel somehow the case is big and it is a bit heavy as compared to the sub 16610 and i think they have the same case and weight on the new sob c and somehow the new sub c feels like a replica.

Yes, I would. I love the supercase, the look of the ceramic bezel (not having to worry about fade is an added bonus), the fact they've kept the bracelet brushed, and the truly brilliant Glidelock clasp. For me, it is the definition of the modern Rolex sports watch, a little bit bigger, a little bit more refined, a little bit more luxurious, but still rough and ready enough to take everything you can throw at it. I'm also certain it will be a little bit lighter and more comfortable than a lot of other diving watches that it competes with (certainly the SMP 300). I can't wait to see one in the flesh - I know I won't be disappointed.

For me, it boils down to whether you want the best 300m diving watch that the 20th century has to offer (16610), or the best 300m diving watch the 21st century has to offer. I've always been a big advocate of the changes Rolex are making, so stick me on the side of the 116610

I prefer the classic 16610 Submariner.

However I love the look of the new Sub too.

I would much rather have the 16610 though, just because.

I would check out the new watch before i decide, chances are i already like it more than the current 16610 due to the blue lume.

I just purchased a TT Sub C and cannto wait to get another in SS... I am a Sub guy now. I will wait till after the sales settle down to get one though.

I already have an SD, so no need to supplement that with a 16610. I like the idea of the new bezel, bracelet, case, dial, etc. The new case adheres to the Golden Ratio, so is an improved look, imho.

I understand the whole idea of the Ceramic and the anti scratching features, however I have read countless posts about the Ceramic cracking and chipping !!!! So, I think either is good, both have pro's and con's, but if you already have a 16610, then I would keep it

It all depends on what the person prefers...personlly I like the more solid feel of the ceramic!! But we will see.

I don't see any move is wrong here... if you like classic one, take 16610, otherwise take the ceramic model.... both are good in terms of quality and craftmanship.... it's the icon of rolex, so you can't go wrong.... not ever...

I think all of us to various degrees have affection for the 16610 design. However, the new Sub C is certainly very worthy of our attention.

To be honest, it took me about a year to warm up to even the idea of changes. Now that the change has come, I'm ready for it.

My name is # 1 on my local AD's waiting list for the Sub C.

This watch isn't going to have major changes again for probably 10-20 years.

Thus, the Submariner - while still very much holding on to its rich identity - has been redefined... to a greater depth.
