Icon4 Datejust II dial question - white dial

I just received my datejust ii from an AD. When I was looking at photos in the catalogue the white dial with white markers appeared the same "pure white" color. Now that I have it, the luminous markers appear much more "off white" than the dial face - which is "pure white". It creates a different look than I was expecting. Is this normal or do I have something wrong here? Anyone else have this watch with this face choice? photos? Thanks

The areas with lume are rarely a pure white color. Even a slight exposure to light gives them a bit of a charge and makes them look a little yellowish, almost like a patina. This is normal in my experience.

Take the picture outside, not in the direct sunlight. An overcast day would be the best or near the end of the day in the shade (but not dusk, just before dusk).

mfer. good advise. maybe im an idiot but when i stepped outside and looked i noticed it was more a "pure white." i guess it looks more yellowish in unnatural light (office, kitchen, etc.). the luminous chemicals just appear yellow in unnatural light? maybe there is some scientific reason? does that make sense?

Sure...

The lume is photo-luminescent. It reacts to light and will appear different under different wavelengths and after different exposure.........

What a beautiful watch! I know what you're talking about--I've noticed the color difference looking at one IRL. However, I think the slightly creamy look that the lum sticks have is rich looking against the stark white of the dial.

You made a great choice. This is my favourite in the DJ II size. Enjoy it.
