Since I almost exlusively wear my Explorer 114270 on a strap, and more than once have found it hanging by a single spring bar on the wrist, I'm looking for a more secure solution. A company in London offers the "spring loaded fixed bar" option, but I can't seem to find out what they actually do. Is it simply a pair of shoulderless springbars mounted on a solid case (which I could do myself in 30 seconds), or is it something more advanced (price would certainly indicate the latter)?

The look is like the watch on the right (my 114270 on the left):

If anyone has had this done, I'd appreciate their input.

Sounds like the Project X bars - spring loaded but can only be removed by cutting them in the middle. Obviously no good for a bracelet, but fine for a NATO strap...

Thanks Psmith, interesting read. I still wonder though, how do these springbars differ from any other 20mm springbar without shoulders? For the price of a nice Seiko, it must be something.

It appears that they differ in that the main body tube of the springbar is almost exactly 20mm.

When you depress the pivot pins and slip it between the lugs, when they snap into the holes there is no longer any way to depress them for removal.
