In a quandary!!!

I currently own a two/tone submariner black dial and which I purchased in 2000 with a trade-in Explorer. I called Rolex Service Center in NY and they gave me a quote to refurb of roughly $3,500 if I need a new band. My watch has not been off my wrist for 10 years and is a daily "driver". I literally have not taken it off and it is a bit shabby. Corroded bezel, cracked "Mother of Pearl" banged up bracelet and very worn links. The gold is soft and shows all the nicks etc. I work in the marine industry and do salvage/diving /vessel recovery and all the stuff the Coast Guard no longer does. I am always in and around the water/machinery and bang stuff around a lot as is required in my line of work. These watches take beating and keep going. I usually trade every 10 years as they get quite beat up. I started in 1981 with a Tudor Submariner and then went to a GMT, Explorer and now the TT Sub. My dealer has offered me a "New old style Sea Dweller" (not DSSD) for $2,500 and my current TT in trade. I am seriously thinking of trading but part of me likes that little bit of gold sparkling under water. Yet I know the TT will look rough again 2 years after I have it "refurbed" by Rolex.

Anyway, that's my story!! Any and all comment/suggestions are welcome as I am torn whether to get my Sub refurbed with a new bracelet (maybe) or just get the "Mr. Toughie" Sea Dweller.

PS I have ruled out the DSSD because of price and girth!!! I love big watches, but the DSSD is a bit too cumbersome for me. The "regular"SD feels great!!
