FSOT: Magnificent Corum Vanitas 18k & 108 Diamonds Marquetry Artisan Dial !!
This is an unbelievable watch. It is living proof that watches are not simply timepieces.
Besides having 2.76 carats (108 stones) of Top Wesselton/VVS diamonds, this solid 18k yellow gold watch has a dial on it that is hand made from marble, mother of pearl and precious stones. Even though 50 examples were made of this design, no two dials are exactly the same. The dial was made in the marquetry style, and is the first watch ever to be presented with this type of construction. Each piece is hand cut, finished and polished and assembled like a jigsaw puzzle. Painstaking work that has somehow become a lost art. The skulls on the dial represent man's mortality, while the designs that surround them represent man's thoughts or actions which will likely outlast him. Corum has used the skull theme numerous times in the past. This 42mm watch, which has a COSC movement, had an initial release price of $51,000. MSRP was in the 60's when the watches were finally sold out. It is in mint condition, with only a few light marks from being tried on several times. It is as close to new as is possible. My asking price is $16,500 US, delivered by fully insured fedex overnight to any address in Canada or the United States. I will consider trades for this watch, but I will only trade down for your watch plus cash. The watch will travel with all boxes and papers. The three cards are present. The warranty card is unsigned and undated, and no warranty is implied. However, it is keeping proper time. The watch comes with a large leather folder that houses the cards and books, as well as the official Limited Edition watch certificate. The watch sleeps in a uniquely designed "hatbox" style case that is made of velvet. The top of the box houses a replica of the dial. Incredible! Please EMAIL me with any questions that you may have. I have megapixel closeups of the watch if you would like to receive them. The watch and I are located in Montreal, and it is available for inspection. Cheers! |
