Congrats, Eric. I'm sure those pics are not doing it enough justice. It must look truly beautiful in person.

A question, Eric: Do you know if that green dial is solid 18K gold or what? Thanks - JJ

They call it "green gold" and apparently, at least according to the AD, it is a true gold alloy that Rolex has recently developed and introduced on this new green Sub. I'm just parroting what I was told so not sure if you should quote me or not.

The reason I asked is that so far the only Rolex with a solid noble metal dial is the SS/Pt. YM which is fitted with a 950 grade Platinum dial.............so just wondered if this one was fitted with an 18K Green Gold dial. Would be interesting to know the REAL facts!!

Well, the way I understand it, it is the second noble metal dial.

I'm happy to hear that. High time Rolex devoted more time to producing watches with noble dials instead of iced-up ones!!

Oh no, don't get me wrong, Eric. With ladies, ice is fine - Zemina has her TT DJ with a 10-diamond dial too - it's just that I would much prefer to see a noble metal dial on a man's Rolex over ice.

Big congratulations, it is beauty. It is growing on me like rich green moss, and we love our green in the Great Northwest. Can't wait to see one in the wild.

The all green Sub looks so much better than "the show" release photos did. I can't wait to see one in the flesh as well. I just might like your watch a little better than the updated "standard" Sub. Thanks for the post.

I'm going from memory, but I believe I read that the green color comes from a Gold and Aluminum alloy. Might have read that in "Watchtime" magazine, but I don't have it now to double check. |
