Sorry...is this a watch or a car?

OK,

So I'm looking to buy my first Rolex (16610 Sub Date around late 90s early 2000s if anyone's got one out there) and from various email chains and conversations I'm starting to wonder whether I'm buying a watch or a car!

Seriously, I'm asking stuff like...

- How old is it?
- How many owners has it had?
- What service history has it got?
- Why are you selling it?

...just as I would with any car - for a watch!

Anyway, I just thought I'd share that with the group. I'm sure you guys have often thought the same when you've been in the market!

Chris

True...usually it's;
"how soon will it be in & what's the soonest I can pick it up?"

That is when you were a car dealer ? I met a car dealer when living in Portugal , this guy later became a good buddy . Ever since meeting that guy I got a different attitude towards used car dealers . This guy would buy 10 used cars a week and half of them he had never seen till they turned op on his lot and he never test drives any of them . Sometimes , he would ask me to take a car for a day or two and let him know what I thought . He used to say if I didn't find anything wrong with it .. any buyer would be happy with the thing . I used to be a manic when it came to cars .. one scratch or rattle , uneven tire ware just anything I would spot and worry about . Given that all up .Given up chucking money down that bottomless pit completely .. . Still , happy that I had some of those ones at one stage

Don't forget to ask for proof of ownership, a.k.a., "papers" or we call "pink slip" in car ownership.
