Glidelock Vs errr...Glidelock

As there are 2 types of glidelock clasps, DSSD & New Sub it got me thinking: what is the point of the DSSD glidelock? Are there any advantages over the sub's? The only one i can think of is that it maybe easier to adjust the dssd's whilst on the wrist or is it just a necessity of design because of the diver extension?

I know both are great pieces of engineering - the dssd's arguably more so as its more complex but surely the sub's will prove to be more reliable over time due to the fewer moving parts?

Any thoughts guys?

I have the new Sub and the Deepsea! The Deepsea is more practical! You can make it wider or tighter while wearing it and you can do so by just adding milimeters! It is great! You have to take off the Sub for that! You can see, that the Deepsea is more sophisticated and it doesn't seem or feel less reliable, so Deepsea is the better Glidelock for me!

Why don't Rolex use the DSSD glidelock clasp on the new ceramic sub as well instead of using two different one?

To distinguish the watches ? Not to have many interchangeable parts . Why does Rolex not make a jubilee bracelet for the DJ2 ? Maybe not to confuse it with a DD? Rolex works in mysterious ways

I think they just want to have one real professional dive watch and that is the Deepsea, so they put the more professional bezel on it and the better Glidelock!

And the Deepsea Glidelock is longer, so it fits the bigger watch better!

I didn't know you could adjust the DSSD while it was still on the wrist - that is awesome!

My wrist expands and contracts with temp. chages. I love adjusting the Glidelock on my DSSD for a comfortable fit. I have never liked bracelets until now because they never fit. My Sub. has a vintage Tropic strap. I love the DSSD so much that the Sub is retired.

One watch is the ultimate dive watch and costs $2,000 more - they have to differentiate somehow. I'm glad they did.

The DSSD is designed to fit over a hot water suit for diving, hence the extra length on the clasp, the sub isn't.

You mean just the glidelock clasp? Because the lug-width of the DSSD is 21mm vs 20mm for the Sub-C so one cannot swap the whole bracelet.

The extension found in the 16610 was put in place to accommodate a wetsuit. However, wetsuits come in different thicknesses and therefore having that fine adjustment is most useful in case you dont want to work on your bracelet in between dives...

Yeah, that is the one thing that peeves me about the new Sub. I miss being able to adjust the bracelet on the wrist like I could with the DSSD.
