I was 21, I could of purchased one at 17 honestly but I decided it was wiser to secure my positive cashflow before I go spending it. I came from very little, self made in software [First game at 14] and then into a networking corporation... later CTO..
I'm happy I waited though, I enjoy them a lot more now, much like wine and champagne.. Of course this is the internet, no face or age used to be the fun part.. haha.. :) Everyone that played my game thought I was in my 50s.. [Online based.. well before EQ or WOW was invented..] |

Ok who was 11 years old?
I recieved my first "nice" watch at 14 years old at Christmas. It was a Tag Heuer model 2000 classic. Then I accquired 2 more Tags between 14 and 25. All the while I really lusted after a Rolex. I had the money to buy a SS Sub, my dream watch at the time, however I either could not justify spending $5k on a watch or didn't want to see my account cut in half from a watch purchase. As much as I would like to say I put my blood sweat and tears into saving for my first Rolex, I cannot. Because the truth is that I saved up enough money so when I did buy my first Rolex, I would not notice a huge change in my bank account. Anyone else feel this way?

[QUOTE=Smoak352;2012044]Ok who was 11 years
Me, when I was 8 I became a rolex fanatic, after saving my money and asking for money instead of birthday and Christmas presents, I bought a 1957 Rolex ref.6564 in excellent condition from a wholesale contact of mine, when I was 10 years old. It's my most prized possession. |

SS Datejust with a silver stick dial, engine turned bezel and jubilee bracelet. I gave it to my father and he still has it. |

It is interesting that the graph resembles a normal distribution (possibly platykurtic and definitely with a positive skew) with the greatest number of first time purchasers falling between the ages of 22-29. No wonder why Rolex changed the Sub's bezel to Ceramic; it looks more modern and likely appeals to the younger crowd--I'm sure Rolex did market testing completely before releasing it in order to find this out ahead of time.

Funny but true, I was 20yr old on a trip to Disney land in Florida for the first time. I was standing in line wait to get on a ride and this guy in front of me had this watch. It was amazing, then said to him hey "that's a nice watch" what type is it? Then he replied you couldn't afford it. Its a rolex. I keep my cool and said OK and at that point I'd never heard of rolex. Later that week I was in the mall and strolled into Mayor's and there she was looking good. A ss sud-date. 1994 msrp $3200.00 at that time. So yes I purchased it without thinking twice about it. LOL I saw the guy the next day and told him your right this is a nice watch. So I have him to blame for me addiction.
2 ss submariner, 1 tt submariner, 1 yg submariner, 1 wg president, 1 yg president, 1 ss daytona and thats just the rolex's. |
